something for depression, estradiol?

Posted by cadburyhesychasm on October 11, 2018, at 11:22:11

I'm again facing problems of severe painful grieving depression though my other symptoms of rage attacks and continuous rage irritability is in control, at least for the moment.
I'm taking Lithium SR 800, Gabapentin 1800, Ginger root 650 tid.
But I don't know what to do for this grieving depression and mental pain. Conventional anything doesn't work for me, and the doctor mostly recommends antipsychotics which I have a severe negative reaction to.
Ideally, I want something with rapid effects that causes a sustained euphoria with stress-relief maybe increasing endorphins in a sustainable way. Maybe I sound like a druggie but with my condition, something like that is probably what would do me good for my severe crippling mental state. But I don't know what a suitable drug or natural substance, supplement or otherwise would be.
I'm thinking, I hate to take a 'hormone' (because it sounds weird) but if for the time being I take Estradiol, which has effects on anger, and effects on the cannabinoid system and is a FAAH inhibitor too, it might help lift my mood. But I'm a man and don't want effects on chest swelling or anything, I had enough of that kind of stuff on antipsychotics which skyrocketed prolactin levels. Anyway I need thoughts on whether it's a good option and whats an effective but safe dose that won't have 'that' kinds of side effect. Any recommendations for other substances appreciated also. I need something quite rapid, because these mental states are intolerable. :(

maybe aripiprazole? I think it tends to slightly lower prolactin levels...

Then try taking low-dose naltrexone (LDN). Start at a dose of 1.5 mg (taken at bedtime) and gradually increase your dose over several weeks until you're at the maximum -- 4.5 mg.

If low-dose naltrexone doesn't have the desired effect on you, then try an even lower dose of it. If that doesn't help, then go even lower. In fact, the lower the dose of naltrexone, the more effective it might be. The following quote is from

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/226113151_Ultra-Low
Dose_Naltrexone_Decreases_Dependence_and_Addictive_Properties_of_Opioids

"Cotreatment with ultra-low-dose naltrexone at 16.7, 20, or 25 ng/kg, but not at 10 or 200 ng/kg, induced a significant CPP after this 2-h delay. This finding implies that, whereas the rewarding effects of morphine have dissipated by 120 min postinjection, ultra-low-dose naltrexone may extend this effect."

In other words, an extremely low dose of naltrexone enhanced the effects of morphine, and prevented tolerance to it from developing. And it prevented dependence and addiction from developing. A higher, but still tiny, dose of naltrexone didn't have these beneficial effects.

Even if you're not taking opioids, you might benefit from taking ultra-low-dose naltrexone, since we all have naturally occurring opioids -- endorphins. An extremely low dose of naltrexone, taken every day, might improve your brain's response to your naturally occurring endorphins.

So if you aren't helped by 1.5 to 4.5 milligrams of naltrexone, try lowering your dose to micrograms. If that doesn't help, lower your dose to nanograms. If that doesn't help, lower it to picograms. Other than the naltrexone, all you need is distilled water to dilute it with and a calculator.

Naltrexone is water-soluble, so dissolve a 50 mg tablet in 50 ml of distilled water and use a medicine dropper to measure the dose. If refrigerated, liquid low-dose naltrexone will keep for several weeks.

aripiprazole is the best drug for me » Christ_empowered

i realized three days back that lithium and gabapentin were making me worse and i descended into very severe inner agitation and started having outward rage attacks too.

then i remembered day before you posted flashes of memories of happiness, that aripiprazole when i took it before were the only times i had had them and three day before i started at 20mg, in 2015 i had gone up to 30mg but i realize that my condition worsened then but probably because my doctor had me stop high doses of nitrazepam and other drugs cold turkey and i mistakenly attributed it to arip.

i also started cipralex for dep and musical hallucinations not hallucinations as such but music playing in mind all day long.

third day on aripiprazole and the cloud has lifted. everything dark feels now full of light its like making a blind man see and the light thing i mean literally. everything appeared dark before. and this magical happiness is just like when i was hospitalized for dysphoric manic rage and given aripiprazole after a period of haloperidol.

abilify is the only drug that opened up my mind and connected me to the outer world and i have been on many drugs. it is truly magic in pill, i just guess disinhibition impulse control problems i got last time might be because the dosage was low.

i guess doctors were right when some of them prescribed this. leaving worry in the hands of doctors might be the best thing for me, i think. though some doctors i saw were not that good.

i take aripiprazole. for me, the trick is to keep it -below- 30mgs, otherwise..blah. because of the nature of my problems, the dosage is always 10+, never below 10mgs/day.

oh, and...personal, non-professional advice: don't load up on additional drugs on abilify, and be careful about the add ons. lamictal is OK for me with abilify, but depakote was a nightmare. i had lingering tremor and such even after going off the depakote, it was -rough-.

ok. oh, and...antidepressants...just be careful with the abilify dosage on antidepressants. antidepressants boost neuroleptic blood levels. i never got eps, etc. from the combination, but I did turn kind of...dull, placid, etc. :-(

hope this helps.
