Hi,

I have decided to give rhodila a try as this is one herb I have not yet taken.

I'm starting with a now foods product (500mg) once a day.

It can certainly work but it won't help your sleep if it is fragile, I suspect.

Taking it first thing in the morning may help.

NOW is good. You may want to try out New Chapter, GAIA, or Mind Body and Spirit if you don't feel your response to the NOW brand was strong enough. Unfortunately, those brand will also be more expensive.

In my opinion the adaptogens are more icing on the cake. They definitely help with energy and stress resistence, but they do not necessarily fix glaring deficiencies that often underly depression and anxiety.

I've tried ashwagandha, eleuthero, rhodiola, as well as herbs like bacopa, longjack extract, and tribulus. I've tried ginseng, astragalus, licorice, dang gui, goji berries, red dates, rehmannia, and other tonic herbs in formulas.

Again, these have some general effects, but they do not compare to herbal formulas that have a more focused target and intention.

I'm technically still in the recovery stage, but having switched to a totally different milieu I realize that I am basically in remission if not better than. I credit herbal formulas for keeping my energy up in decidedly crappy weather and a harsh urban environment, street food, etc. I try to do qigong, taiji, or other exercise daily. I don't push myself, rather I try to do a little something and know when to stop before I tax myself unduly. I take my meds faithfully and refuse to worry regardless of what others think.

Take it for what its worth, which is probably not much...best of luck to all.

Family member first tried ashwaganda while still on wellbutrin. Bad move! Later a specialist stopped her wellbutrin & switched her to rhodiola and a supplement that additionally had ashwaganda in it -- worked like a charm (both).
