I take nardil and olanzapine, two BIG appetite stimulators. Since being on the two meds for over two years i've gained nearly two stone in weight, this is despite going to the gym four times a week for 2hour sessions. About a week ago I decided to try Hoodia, bought in the UK from Holland&Barrett shop (as there are alot of fake online sources). Well, it works! I no longer constantly crave sweets and cakes, and if I have one cake or choc bar I don't feel the urge to binge on another three or so. I feel free again, its ace. Plus I only take one capsule a day, not the recommended 3-6 per day, this means I save money, and also still eat normally rather than starving myself. Just thought i'd let you know my discovery.

I have, and i did eat less, but that only results in your metabolic rate lowering, meaning your body will adapt to expecting less food and will burn less, so when you stop taking them you will double the weight you lost.
Its good to eat a little and often, every 3 hours so that your metabolism is permanently active. Everyone says it, and I've come to accept it myself....the only way to truely lose weight is a good diet and exercise. I know, rubbish isn't it...THIS IS THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTINS ABOUT HOODIA
it was found on a web page for holland a barret hoodia. hoodia is used by tridsmen when on hunting trips to supress the hunger as the roam for food///the only take it in these extreme surcumstances,if you take ir every day you will have to for life///if you stop i dont fancy doubleing the wait you have lost as this web page said//theres no such thing as a compleat slimming tablet without some exersice an hoodia also suppresses you drink so the tribsmen some times died with dehydration///you have not found a magic pill but one in millions sold to desperate people who believe the hype an not the side effects//in this case quiet scary it could turn into an addiction for fear of doubleing weight

I already exercise 7 days a week, do weights and cardio at the gym 4x a week. It was becoming ridiculous as i'd stuff myself with 1k calories of choc and then go to the gym for 3hours and exhaust myself, all in a bid not to gain weight. I weigh 11stone, and due to the olanzapine my bodyfat is borderline high (30%). My BMI is 26, which is overweight. The cravings were so strong I was unable to resist them, most ppl on olanzapine gain alot of weight. I cannot come off the olanzapine as it augments the nardil and helps me get to sleep (I have insomnia when I take just nardil). I will not stop the nardil as it is an excellent antidepressant. I feel the only option for me is hoodia. If you have any other realistic option then please do let me know..

i'm quitting the hoodia as I think its affecting my mood negatively, plus one capsule hasn't worked today and I don't want to be on the slippery slope of increasing doses. Ah well, its better to be overweight and not depressed than depressed, thin, and experiencing god knows what other side effects

thanks for that manic, and sorry if my previous reply was abrupt, I got my hackles up its true :-).
I don't know if it caused my low mood that day but I do wonder if olanzapine and nardil's effectiveness is actually linked with the increased appetite, and that suppressing the appetite may bring on a low mood as increased appetite is part of olanz and nardils efficacy. Would be interesting if they still worked as well if somehow they could be chemically altered to prevent appetite increase.
This is the end of the thread.
