Hi! I'm new to babble, and I think it's an absolutely amazing resource for those people who want to take control of their own treatment. I've been diagnosed for more than three years as having major depression and comorbid GAD. I only recently started supplements as opposed to medications, because I seem to be very sensitive to the negative side effects of prescription psychotropics. I've responded well to St. John's, 5HTP, Fish Oil, Magnesium, B vitamins, and Tyrosine.
With the addition if tyrosine however, I had the absolutely unintended consequence of curing my coffee addiction. As in, even just the SMELL makes me sick to my stomach. I'm not pregnant, at least not as of two weeks ago. Has anyone had anything like this happen to them, either on Tyrosine or anything else? I used to love coffee, like three cup a day drinker, and while it's healthier to be off, it's just so weird that I would absolutely hate it now.

Hello Mshamed!
Welcome to Psycho-Babble. I'm glad you find Babble useful. That is a really strange side effect of tyrosine! I've never heard of anything like that before, but maybe others will have.
I'm thinking of trying tyrosine myself as I heard it was good for motivation problems. It's good to know those supplements work for you.

Hey Deneb! I find tyrosine awesome for motivation, and the effect increases over time. Today, I was able to take my cat to the vet, cook a fabulous lunch, do the dishes, take the cat to the groomer, go to the library, fill out and mail insurance forms, and call the IRS to get some tax stuff. Now I'm going back to the library to finish some tax stuff and maybe get a book.
A day like this was unthinkable even a month ago. I can't recommend it enough. I'm still tired and headachy, which is par for the course for me, but I'm now able to identify and prioritize tasks, and not only think, hey I should do _______________, but actually just get up and do it. And a lot of this is in the face of being intensely annoyed or facing setbacks, which before would have just had me giving up.
