Hello all, I am relatively new to psycho-babble and esp. new to the alternatives board. I just wanted to remind you or tell you anew that if you are experiencing depression plus blahs, apathy, fatigue, please get thee to a doctor to test your vitamin D blood levels--especially if you live in the north or otherwise do not get very much sunlight.
I have REALLY been doing poorly over the last few months on meds that had worked before. I just found out today that I have a major vitamin D deficiency. Wikipedia, unfortunately, doesn't say much about deficiencies and mood/fatigue, but it does talk about a lot of scary disease processes that may be initiated or exacerbated by vitamin D deficiencies. Scaaarrrryyy.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how I do with megadoses of vitamin D!
Thanks,
Amelia

Megadoses? - just don't take more than 10.000 IU each day.

The treatment for deficiency is 50,000 2x per week for 8 weeks, and then a recheck of blood levels. It's extremely important to get the D back up. Once normal, it's 1,000-2,000 per day (as per my doctor).

Thanks d/r! I will search for Larry's posts. Yeah, I love the sun, I'm just a sucker for it, so I'm not at all sure why I have this deficiency. Except it was a loooonnnnggg winter, and I HATE winter. Come to think of it, hiding in my house until the chilly temps pass probably did it, huh??? ;-)

I also have a vitamin D deficiency, and PMDD/anxiety/depression. High-dose vitamin D gave me digestive problems, so now the doctor has me taking 1,000 IU twice a day and I think it's helping. I have already noticed a slight lift to my mood, that I'm hoping will improve more over time.
