I've discovered that I do better with my depression if I add 100mg of magnesium oxide to the my other vitamins in the morning. I seem to be able to only tolerate 100mg. 200mg makes me feel too sedated. Just wanted to let others know that dosage of magnesium is very important. Some may do well on less and some do well on more.

Magnesium Oxide is also probably the least bioavailable form of Magnesium as well. Have you considered Glycinate, Taurinate or Citrate forms which might get you even better results?

No, I can't tolerate glycinate or citrate forms of magnesium. No matter what others say, magnesium oxide does work. As far as its bioavailability, I can't say for sure. I just know that it does the job for me and probably would be beneficial for anyone looking to supplement with magnesium. Thanks for your post. I tried other forms of magnesium and I didn't like them.

Did you try the orotate and aspartate versions as well? Just curious.
Yeah if the oxide form works why change it right?

I've tried the glycinate and citrate forms only. I've never tried the orotate or apartate forms. The glycinate form makes me feel worse. The citrate form is okay, more bioavailable, but I've always done okay with the oxide form. I've heard that magnesium taurinate (Is that the correct spelling?) is a great form if you like the effects of taurine. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it at the store. Probably find it online. Thanks for your reply.

Lao, if you have a Vitamin Shoppe anywhere near you that would be a good place to start. I have know idea where you live. Also, Wholefoods is a great place but you will spend more money there for sure. Otherwise, I would suggest either Swanson's brand through Vita Cost online, or, Vitamin Shoppe Brand through the Vitamin Shoppe website.
You will typically save the most money if you purchase Swanson or Vitamin Shoppe brands online. Other wise, Wholefoods or Vitamin Shoppe or some store that specializes in health that is near where you live.
Good luck

I actually buy most of my supplements at a local VitaminShoppe. I buy the vitamin shoppe magnesium oxide 100mg. It's very cheap and it is a good addition to my daily vitamin regimen.

Would you mind sharing how magnesium glycinate made you feel? My issues are mainly sleep though also depression, so I thought the glycinate version, if taken at night, would be my best bet as I found citrate a little activating if I took the full recommended dose. I can't imagine taking magnesium during the day, though, as I would imagine it would be sedating. Was that your issue with it, feeling out of it?
