hello,
I started taking 400mg SAMe in the mornings and had bad anxiety, agitation and bad-memory flashbacks. I then went down to 200mg a day, now 200mg every other day. the side effect persist, though less at lower dosage/frequency.Do the side-effects I metioned eventually pass?
Or is it unlikely they will pass and I will either have to lower the dose to 100mg or 50mg ... or perhaps not take it at all as my body does not seem to like it?

I don't know if it is a side effect. SAMe just does not suit some people. At times it has suited me, and at other times not. Most recently I felt I was better without it. And I'd guess it is unlikely to pass.

I suppose that much can be true. do you know of any articles or studies that come to this conclusion. I have read about the low-dosage / high-dosage issue.I wonder what it is about SAMe than can cause agitation/anxiety in some people.

I don't have any studies. You could try lowering the dose again, or not take it. You are taking it for depression?

I don't know. Some agitating serotonin receptor?

I'm taking it (a) to increase my glutathion level, which is very low and (b) also for depression.

There are other ways of increasing glutathione levels, I assume.
Would one of them be N-acetyl cysteine, taken with vit C?
Might be good for OCD (if you have that)?

NAC is on my plan from my doctor, starting it this weekend.I dont have fullblown OCD but temporary tendencies every now and then...
I once tested SAMe with NADH and dont recall having had the side effects that I have with SAMe alone ... or NADH alone for that matter. I wonder if the two together "work together"....

I have taken them both, but not together.
