So we all know for quick weight gain you can turn to zyprexa or remeron.
But what about in the world of natural medicine? Are there any herbs or supplements that are overall good choices for psychiatrict people but also have a reputation for putting on weight? I don't know of any but I would sure like to. While everyone is focused on losing weight, my problem is just the opposite. If I knew of an herb that would put on weight like remeron or zyprexa I would want some of that in a hurry.

maybe something to calm you down? taurine, magnesium, valerian, kava kava...etc., etc. ??
You might just be stressed out and need to chill out. Do you smoke?

Actually I am not stressed at all. Quite calm. Most people say I am too calm. I've tried those supplements. Valerian decent for sleep, the others very depressing stuff. I feel like my brain is already too calmed down to endure any more help in that. Any more slowing just tips it over the edge into depression.
Yeah, yeah, ok, I smoke. About 1/2 pack a day. Guilty. I've tried to quit. But zyprexa or remeron put on significant weight despite I was smoking twice as much then as now.
Smoke or not, isn't there some herb on the face of this planet that is known to put weight on? There are countless meds that do, how about herbs? There has to be. ????

Firstly, I'm NOT advocating this, its just a thought. But if you're willing to try (& can easily get hold of it) cannabis is the only 'herbal remedy' I can think of which will help you put on more weight. Best effects would be gained by eating it in small amounts, NOT smoking it. Smoke it and you will end up increasing your intake addictively.
OR, quit smoking. That should help you put on weight. You'll feel plenty hungry enough to 'munch'. But dont use Wellbutrin (bupropion) or Chantix (varenicline tartrate) as these decrease cravings as well as hunger. You could use nicotine replacement therapy (e.g. patches) & probably still experience hunger as you decrease the dosage, or you can simply use good old will power.

Try Vitex agnus castus ( I had to stop it due to unexplained weight gain, though it might be different with females) And good old chocolate, has antidepressant qualities and is loaded with fat and calories.

Maybe astragalus?
It is used to raise vitality and to help with depressed appetite.
(And of course immunity too.)It could be worth looking into.

Chocolate. Vitex. Cannabis. Astragulus. Hmmm. I'm kind of liking this.
Vitex haven't tried, but very soon.
Astragalus, tried briefly, need to try more seriously.
Chocolate. Love it. I'm gluten free though. Strange, did you know that hersheys choc and hersheys with almonds is gluten free, but their dark chocolates are not? Actually it is tricky to find safe chocolate for me, but I will! I want a safe dark chocolate.
Cannabis. Oh yeah. Haven't smoked in a couple years, but have been a chronic smoker several times. I tell you, it is the best anti-anhedonia treatment and the best antidepressant on the planet, and it works in minutes! If I smoked just a little I did not get high, I just felt normal. In this State though it is hard to find, low quality, and very expensive. Growing is too dangerous. Been there done that.
Quitting smoking. Ya know, the first cigaretter I ever had I said wow that's what's been missin my whole life. It isn't the addiction, it really feels like my biochemistry needs it, and it happened on the very first lungfull. I chew nicorette gum when I can't smoke. Have tried to quit several times. Just can't envision it.
Thanks for the great ideas all!
