Any opinions on taking 500 mg per day of flush free niacin (inositol hexanicotinate)? I'm a bit worried about possible liver toxicity.

In particular....
>“No-flush” niacin preparations, such as inositol hexaniacinate and nicotinamide, are widely sold as niacin alternatives that do not cause hot flushes. In my experience, however, they simply do not work. In other words, no flush, no effect.
But he's talking about lipids and stuff?

It's over between me and niacin. That stuff sent me over the edge yesterday. I nearly blacked out. I had to lie down in case I lost consciousness.

I had a horrible experience with Flush free niacin. They claim there's less side effects but it's quite the contrary.

If it is the niacin vitamin you want, but niacin gives you trouble, then take niacinamide. It is beneficial in many ways, pro-liver, and anti-anxiety.

I tried just 100mg on niacin once.. back in about 2003/4? I think.. and I had an extreme facial flush..so I stayed off it. I had heard about the time release not being good. That's also a probem with most supps and hormones too.. for some reason the pharma/supp industry doesnt seem to care about the timing during the day at all.
I know why too..simplicity and the assumption consumers are either too daft or couldnt be bothered or would tend to forget/get lost following any on-off/varying timed routine.. especially varying within a cycle too(as in females).. and they do have a point.. But
if it dont work or can be harmful when you dont try.. and you need it? Sorry rave off :-)
They could at lest specify to only take once a day Etc. and with / or without food or away from food for 2 hrs..and best time of day for people following a "normal" daily rise in the morning cycle?I've just found the bottle of niacin again.. it expired this year, but it probably fine..so I took just 50mg yesterday and day before and NO facial flush. probably they aren't as potent as a few years ago, but I'll work up..as I do need to lower cholesterol, and I refuse to go on statins after I saw what it did to my Dad. Then again, he didnt take CoQ10 either..
