Considering the kind of hype surrounding around Rhodiola, I was sceptical, but curious. So I gave it a try. First day I didn't notice anything, maybe a slight negative (increase in anxiety or fatigue, a worn feeling) that might've been due to something else. Second day (today) it made me feel pretty tired. As it came on I felt a bit of an endorphin/opiate niceness, but then some other part of it started to overtake it and I was feeling tired. Not quite sleepy- I didn't feel the desire to go to bed, but it brought on a feeling of fatigue and dismotivation that I don't usually feel after being awake for just two hours.
Anyone else have this happen? Ideas for how to get something useful out of this herb? I'm taking bulk powder from BN/1fast400, self-capped 500mg.

I wonder if the endorphin opiate niceness thingo was dopaminergic?
Rhodiola worked on me, and the only drawback was insomnia.
Wonderful with deprenyl citrate, but I couldn't sleep normally at all

Not sure. It could be, though Rhodiola does activate some subset of opiod receptors. It made me tired and sleepy, and for me it didn't feel at all dopaminergic. I felt zero stimulation. Not sure if it would've disturbed my sleep, bceause I was at a point where I needed to be awake, not go to bed.
I've only tried it twice- 1g mixed into kool aid, nothing happened and 500-750mg capped, which is the dose that gave me me a bit of the glow and a sedation that went beyond the way opiates effect me.

Hiya
Well. I'd suggest you try it for a good few weeks and perhaps try a different brand - I was on New Chapter and it was very very good. It didn't make me sleepy at all and most things seem to make me sleepy. I always thought it was a COMT inhibitor.

That's the rhodiola that worked for me, anyway.
This is the end of the thread.
