Previously, I had done Mag with nasty, electrolyte imbalancing results due to using the megadosing schedule that had been advocated on another website. After that, I SWORE, it was forever a no-go for me ever, ever again.
Several months ago, at the urging of a knowledgeable person, I tried it again -- at a more "normal" dosing for me. I have noticed a number of good benefits without the previous pitfalls. This time around, it's been good stuff. I use a Mag Glyconate formulation.
The summary: I think it can be good stuff if one uses some rational sense in its use as opposed to extreme, over the top use..... guess that's true of most things.....
Be well and if you aren't now, seek it.....

I had a very bad experience on Mg too. It gave me terrible insomnia after doing well for one week. I think you are talking about G. Ebby right?
I posted something above but nobody has responded. I was hoping to get some advice.
How much do you take and when? Thank you
Johnnyj

Hi jj,
I take 500 mgs at night. Far, far less dose than I tried before. It works well for me at this point.
Good Luck,
Glydin

Mag is an adjunct treatment for me. I am fine and dandy on an AD only (for the past two years) in treating unipolar depression with a huge measure of just about all disorders that are labeled with and associated with anxiety.
Mag seems to have increased my restorative sleep, taken away my night sweats (I'm amazingly thrilled at that), increased my drive, motivation and focus. PLUS, a biggie for me, the use of Mag has quelled some pesky left over muscle tension issues I had related to anxiety.
Overall, I'm very pleased and it has shown me that smaller doses can be as effective as taking megadose vats of something..... at least, for me it is.

My doc had recommended magnesium diglycinate, for (I suppose) the glycine with the magnesium.
