Looking for safe, unadulterated Skullcap herb

Posted by H2Obuffalo on February 16, 2007, at 0:15:03

Hello-

I've read a bunch of warnings on the net that most of the skullcap herb available on the market is adulterated with a cheaper plant that is toxic to the liver. Does anyone know a reliable source of pure skullcap? The fact that something comes from a big, reputable, company does not seem to make a difference in this case, since their supplier may have sent them impure skullcap. Thanks for any information.

Years ago it was said that skullcap had been adulterated with germander.

I have no idea how common this was or is.

You think it's widespread?

Hi,

I'm new here, but I think that there are several U.S. herb farms that grow organically. Since the actual product is tested, this would seem to me to be a safety mechanism.

I'm on the West Coast and one herb company with a good reputation in these parts is Herb Pharm in Oregon.

There website is http://www.herb-pharm.com

The only problem with them is that they don't sell bulk dried herbs. If you are looking for suggestions for that, I'd check Michael Moore's (the herbalist, not the moviemaker) list at

Good luck!
