Phenyethylamine, not phenylalanine? Is it similar? I know phenylalanine augments selegeline nicely...but never heard anything about phenyethylamine before.

DLPA or phenylalanine converts partially to Phenylethylamine (PEA). PEA is considered an "endogenous amphetamine"

There is tons of info on PEA here: http://www.selegiline.com/pea.html

Thanks for the PEA tip. But I thought phenylalanine and DPLA are distinct? Maybe the answer is on selegeline.com, I'll look. Very interesting stuff.

DLPA is the racemic mixture of phenylalanine - that is, both the D and the L isomers ( many times isomers have differant properties even though they are the same compound) - Phenylethylamine (PEA) is a differant chemical altogether - but what I think what you are getting at is whether or not PEA would be a better thing to take with Selegiline than DLPA. I tried both and IMHO PEA is too strong, way to stimulating and way too short acting . But there are places like "unique nutrition" that sell PEA HCL supplements if you want to try it.

They are diffferent indeed, however, L-phenylalanine is primarily converted into L-tyrosine and Phenylethylamine.

Maybe I'll try both the DPLA and the phenylethylamine (not at the same time)- phenylalanine seems very mild to me, but perhaps that's because I unfairly compare it to amphetamines. :) The other thing about phenylalanine is, I swear if I take it in the AM, it seems as though it kicks in late in the evening. It is helpful as an Emsam augmentor though, moodwise. Thanks for the explainations.

DPLA is used to sythesize PEA isn't it?

I was under the impression that the D form converted more readily?
