I was shopping at Swanson's Vitamins online and saw this product under supplements for stress. It is called ZMA. It is a combination of B-6 USP (as pyridoxine HCI) 10.5mg, Magnesium (covalently bound from zinc/magnesium aspartate) 450mg. and zinc (as zinc L-monomethionine/aspartate L-Optizinc and covalently bound zinc/magnesium aspartate) 30mg. The blurb says - A powerful way to boost testosterone levels
All-natural formula free of steroids
Combines vitamin B-6 with highly bioavailable forms of zinc and magnesiumZMA is a unique, patent-pending anabolic formula manufactured by a proprietary process that actively bonds highly bioavailable forms of zinc and magnesium. Formulated with vitamin B-6 to further enhance absorption and utilization, ZMA is a powerful non-steroidal, all-natural dietary supplement clinically proven to increase testosterone levels. I went to the site and it said---
ZMAŽ QuestionsWhat is ZMAŽ?
ZMAŽ is a unique, anabolic vitamin-mineral formula (patent-pending) manufactured by a proprietary process containing highly bioavailable forms of zinc and magnesium, including zinc l-monomethionine (L-OptiZincŽ). Formulated with vitamin B-6 to further enhance zinc and magnesium absorption and utilization, ZMAŽ is a powerful non-steroidal, all-natural dietary supplement clinically proven to increase free testosterone, total testosterone and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) levels and enhance muscle strength in training athletes. ZMAŽ is the original zinc-magnesium supplement developed by SNAC Systems, Inc. and the only one validated by published research.
What does ZMAŽ do?
Increases free testosterone levels*
Increase total testosterone levels*
Increases insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1)*
Increases muscle strength*
How does ZMAŽ work?ZMAŽ was designed to optimize the absorption and availability of zinc and magnesium during peak times of muscle growth and repair. Both zinc l-monomethionine (L-OptiZincŽ) and zinc/magnesium aspartate are unique and highly bioavailable forms of these minerals. The zinc l-monomethionine is absorbed in the front part of the small intestine at the mineral "receptor sites," while the zinc/magnesium aspartate is absorbed in the back of the small intestine via an "active transport" mechanism.
In addition, the zinc/magnesium aspartate in ZMAŽ consists of a unique complex of zinc, magnesium and aspartic acid, which enables the magnesium and zinc to reach the blood stream at the same time so that the desired synergistic effect can be obtained. (Note: Most zinc and magnesium aspartate products are not bound together in a single complex. Many contain insufficient amounts of aspartic acid necessary to fully react with the zinc and magnesium. Some are not reacted at all. These products contain high levels of unbound, poorly absorbed inorganic zinc and magnesium mineral salts, which are ineffective and may cause diarrhea or other undesirable effects.) The addition of vitamin B6 further increases the absorption and utilization of both zinc and magnesium.
How is ZMAŽ different?
ZMAŽ (patent pending) is the original zinc-magnesium supplement developed by SNAC System Inc. and the only one validated by published research. Unlike androstenedione (Andro), ZMAŽ is non-steroidal and won't cause undesirable side effects. ZMAŽ is all-natural, comprised of essential minerals and vitamins at non-toxic doses that are completely safe to take. Because of its safety and efficacy, ZMAŽ is destined to become the anabolic product of choice.
How much ZMAŽ should I take?
The recommended daily dose of ZMAŽ is three capsules (808 milligrams ZMAŽ per capsule) for men and two capsules for women taken on an empty stomach 30-60 minutes before bedtime. The reason for this is that healing, recovery, tissue repair and muscle growth are maximized during sleep.
Additional Recommendations
Since calcium interferes with the absorption of zinc and magnesium, it is recommended that ZMAŽ not be formulated with calcium-based excipients nor taken with dairy products or other calcium-containing foods or supplements. For additional information on dosing, follow manufacturer's recommended use printed on the label and/or talk to your healthcare professional.
So could someone tell me what they think???

In reply to Tetesterone For Anxiety???, posted by janetlee on December 17, 2006, at 3:26:38
It seems fishy to me, Testosterone is regulated through a feedback system. So even if this vitamin/mineral supplement would increase Testosterone it would eventually be lowered to original value by the feedback system.
I doubt testosterone levels will decrease anxiety. Testosterone increases aggressivity, and that will at least by your friends not be perceived as lowered anxiety level.

Well I tried a synthetic androgen called Proviron (25mg meseterolone). It did nothing for my mood or anxiety, maybe made me a little bit more irritable and caused a flare up of acne.
