Anybody had their mercury/silver fillings removed?

Posted by tgo on December 1, 2006, at 14:57:11

I don't know many people that have had them removed, so I suspect that no one here has done this.

I know Aeon had posted about symptoms starting after Nickel was put in his mouth. I started reading about glutathione and how it removes mercury from the body and low glutathione's possible connection to depression and how depressed people have inflammation in their bodies. It makes sense to me that if the body is fighting mercury or such dental metals which are slowly, but continually released from amalgam fillings that inflammation would go up and glutathione's stores would be depleted.
Here are some websites about mercury, what it does, and symptoms of toxicity.

I am looking into finding a holistic dentist who can safely replace my fillings, as mercury is very toxic to the body regardless of whether it is causing your symptoms or not. This is often one of the first things many naturopaths will recommend that patients have done.

Anybody know someone who has had this done?

My wife had them out, the dental dam, the whole thing. Four two-hour sessions.

Maybe I should have had mine out too. My doctor said the growth on my thyroid was most likely related to the mercury, or at least heavy metal toxicity.

err..what sorta growth on your thyroid Dec?

If its goitre or even some nodules.. try eating ome kelp.
i just get some off the beach..

we'ere low on iodine in sydney.. and iodized salt seems to either lack a balance of all the rest in kelp or other seafood OR its just too hard to get the right amount, and excess iodine , like from iodized salt KI or KIO3 etc seems to be correlated with higher autoimmune thryoid disease

probably next year they'll maybe iodize some processed foods in Oz too.. talking about ( submissions invited but now closed) enforcing iodized salt in baked carb goods.. like biscuits and bread etc.. cant recall right now

I have it all somewhere on blog if you're interested

anyway , my hope with all of this is to reduce nodules etc on my thyroid.. increase my FT4 (yes it went up to normal but it could have been the B1, but much more likely the kelp). Couldnt get my FT4 up to a healthy level before

not sure what ya meant but going away for a while so wont probably have internet access

Declan, Why did your wife have them out and did she feel better afterwards (after chelating the mercury out of her system - hopefully she did that afterwards)?

I had a test to check toxic metals. On a scale of normal-elevated-very elevated, my test came back as elevated for mercury and cadmium. I was preparing to have fillings removed but my insurance ran out.

I wish there was some way they could just put some kind of durable film of coating on the outside of the fillings to keep the mercury locked in.

My friend who works for Environment Canada works with detectors set up to measure atmospheric murcury. He says when somebody with murcury fillings breaths on the detector, the needle goes haywire.

Hi Jan
My iodine levels *are* low. The growth was a benign thingo, maybe a polyp? I eat brown rice and arame bread, the arame being some seaweed.

I had all my mercury/amalgam dental fillings carefully removed by a holistic dentist in 1990. I also had some sort of chelation therapy. I noticed immediate improvement in several areas.

I was at the end of my rope before the procedure. The Huggins Lab tested my blood's reactivity (something like allergic response) to mercury, silver, tin, and copper and the readings were off the charts.

In fact, the results were so high, they said they would put me on stand-by since they had a 9 month waiting list. I was able to see a local holistic dentist (only one in the area) and had it done sooner. My dentist had never seen readings that high either - even in MS and chronic fatigue patients.

A long-standing health problem, chronic hematuria, or blood in the urine, improved dramatically. I had spent thousands on specialists and tests and they could find no known pathology for it. Overnight the hematuria went from a daily and obvious (able to see the blood) to weekly, then monthly, and occult (microscopic). Within 5 years it was gone for good.

After the last session (it took four) I felt like I was floating. I felt lighter and had more energy than I had experienced since childhood. Of course it helped with depression.

I was far less allergic to food and chemicals too.

On the downside, I ended up drinking to deal with the huge increase in energy. That led to increased anxiety and several hospitalizations in the following two years.

However, in the long run, it was well worth it. Just be prepared for a *healing crisis*.

...and if anyone is interested in what a 'healing crisis' is then I can recommend a good book.

"Philosophy of Natural Therapeutics" by Henry Lindlahr M.D. it's ancient (published 80 years or so ago) but there's truth in what he says.

Work with your body not against :) That book has opened my eyes. Well worth a read. In fact some of the chapters are available in one of Lindlahr's other books of which you can find a FREE copy online at the address below. Enjoy :)
