I know that some herbs can effect the way that the body/brain uses lipids. Maybe this is just crazy-talk, but does anyone know of any herbs/supplements that have a positive effect on brain lipid profile.
So basically, I'm taking my omega 3, but are there any herbs etc. that would help to support that effect, (ie maintaining high o-3 content of brain cells.)

I dunno anything about the lipid thing, Link, but the new LEF Cognitex has an extract or a fraction, I'm not sure which, of Ashwaganda (withania somniferum (sp?)), which is a nice kinda herb, apparently promoting deeper sleep, rejuvenation and whatnot.

I know this is belated...and decidedly non-herbal, but i was reading Richard Brown's SAM-e book (I know, I feel like the latecomer at a party that has actually already left the building)and it mentions that it promotes Phospholipid methylation. He says, quite vaguely, that it is "important for phospholipid methylation, which helps maintain the flexibility of the cell membrane, keeping in more youthful. Through methylation, SAM-e also boosts the production of phosphatidylserine, a phospholipid important for both mood and memory."
I imagine that you'll know what to do with that nugget more than I, Linkadge...
This is the end of the thread.
