For about 3 days now I've been taking Magnesium Citrate (from NOW foods) WITHOUT any other vitamins except vitamin C (and echinacea as I've had the flu) and I FINALLY notice some effects, I think....and if the Magnesium is what's causing them, oh that would make me so happy. I recently upped my wellbutrin dose from 75, to 150 (for about 2-2 1/2 weeks, then I went back down to 100) but I didn't notice a sort of happy feeling (it seemed more like a speedy? or energetic with no optimism? feeling) until the Magnesium. I tried it before but I think taking it with Calcium possibly made it unable to work. So, I will keep you guys updated (unless I'm so late on this that everyone else has tried it, lol). I'm not saying it feels completely like a magic bullet, but....*fingers crossed*.

What kind of doses are you taking each day?

The first day I took 200 mg, and the past three days I've taken 400mg (Magnesium). As for the Vitamin C I've been drinking Emergen-C which has 1,000 mg Vitamin C ("as seven mineral ascorbates") as well as a few other vitamins. I've been drinking this stuff for a few months now, so I don't think that's what I'm feeling, but I'll post the amounts of the other vitamins if anyone wants.

Hi MM -
I too have been starting to experience positive effects from Mg. Initially I felt really bad taking Mg glycinate on its own, so adding some calcium with Mg at night which seemed to balance things out. I still have loosish stools but I'm not too bothered about that.
What I have experienced, is initially Mg seemed to make me more depressed, but the past week I have been feeling really good. I take the whole dose at night (~400mg), and tonight I will start to take less calcium (now 200mg, was 400mg).
What's more, I am thrilled to be able to find packets of Mg chloride crystals here in Chile for about $2 for 30g. That gives me roughly 120mg elemental Mg for each gram of Mg chloride. Taking tablets (expensive buying over the web for me) is very delaying as for insomnia I need the effects immediately.
So I had one of those 30ml dropper bottles, and dissolved the packet of Mg into plain water and put it in it. Now I have a real chemistry- experiment-looking bottle! But what's good about this is I can put 3-4 ml into a glass of water and take straight, or throughout the night. Tonight will be my first experiment with this.
Anyway, overall my sleep is really improving as I am much more relaxed at night. I have some calcium powder just in case I get pushed too much one way (as I did initially taking huge doses of Mg glycinate). I am also being wary of any candida symptoms, or low thyroid symptoms, but at the dosage I am taking I don't think these will be a problem.
Sorry to blunder into this thread and change the title.
