yes, it works for me, but I have to take large enough dose.

I also mix it with evening primrose oil - both complement each other nicely with regards to mood stability, concentration and anti-anxiety.

Only had a few really bad days since starting on about 4-5g omega-3 fats and 3g epo. Mood definitely worsened when switched to fish oil equal in DHA to EPA. Needed more EPA it seems. Best supplement have ever taken - has stood the test of time with me (other things stop working or don't work enough after a month or so).

Be patient with the fish oil - I did notice initial benefits, but things seem to get better with time. It has lessened my social anxiety as well.

Good luck

Hi,
I started taking the regular omega-3 fish oil preparation, the one with approximately 2:1 EPA:DHA... but that send me hypomanic.. but now that I'm trying a preperation which is 20:1 EPA:DHA, i am not hypomanic and i feel that my bipolar depression is improving.. any opinions??

Hi -

I'm not sure about DHA making you manic - maybe...I know that if I take a lot of flax seed oil it makes me hypomanic - but smaller doses are ok.

I did notice when I first started the high dose fish oil, it did send me a little hypomanic, but well within 'boundaries', and that this went away after the initial couple of weeks. I think a lot of people give up on the fish oil because it makes the anxiety a little bit worse to begin with. It is well worth carrying on through this phase in my experience.

EPA is supposed to be the calming fat out of the two, so maybe too much DHA and too little EPA can make you manic.
