I am new to Psycho-Babble, but have found the discussions on meds and alternative treatments interesting. I am very interested in Picamilon since a number of people have tried it with good results. My question is this. For those of you who are taking Picamilon, do you also take medications for anxiety, panic, or depression? I am interested in trying Picamilon but don't know how it may interact with the prescription meds I take for panic disorder.

Currently, I take Tranxene SD, Gabitril, and Zyprexa. I have good symptom relief but am usualy tired, low energy, and emotionally "flat" with no sex drive. So I am looking for options that will give me symptom relief without all the side effects and allow me to reduce or eliminate some of these meds. BTW, I was also taking Cymbalta but didn't notice much effect and I did not want to be on so many meds.

Have you noticed any change since stopping?
Which of your current medications do you find most helpful? Do you have any idea which of your current medications is causing the most side effects?

> Ed.Tranxene SD - 22.5 mg, Zyprexa - 5 mg, Gabitril -16-20 mg. They are each helpful. The Tranxene and Zyprexa reduce anxiety and physical symptoms, and minimze panic symptoms, while the Gabitril reduces anticipatory and psychological anxiety. I was on Effexor XR then Cymbalta. I stopped them because the problems with a loss of emotioanl reactions, low sex drive, etc. seemed to occur after being on these meds for a while. I just stopped Cymbalta this week so it is too soon to tell how it feels to be without it. Part of the problem is that being on so many meds makes it diffucult to know how much each one is helping or causing problems. I am currently reducing Gabitril to see if it is causing problems. That is why I am curious about Picamilon. I am hoping it will allow me to reduce all meds and get the benefits with a minimum of side effects. Have you taken Picamilon?

>Picamilon is not a long-term soltuion. It tends to work for a while and then poop out. They say to take it for one month, then off for a month, and then back on for a month. Have you heard of Phenibut? I think that has the same poop-out issue though. I was wondering if it might work to take them on alternate months.

I am not familiar with Phenibut but have seen some discussion of it on this site. I will check it out and see what experience others seem to have with it. I did not realize that Picamilon tends to poop out.

You can get capsules containg picamilon + l-theanine here, they might be worth trying. It's pretty cheap to try, 75 pills for about $18.00, I found them very calming.

Thanks Rick. I ordered Picamilon from that site this week and am waiting for it to arrive. What dose do you take, how often, and how long have you been taking them?

Just something to keep in mind.K

>Thnaks for the info, I will see if I can find the post from Ron Hill. I have been taking Theanine for many months. It is calming and allows me to reduce the amount of Tranxene SD I am taking. I can't tell if it is increasing my feelings of depression but I may need to experiemnt with it to find out.

Actually, I am noticing an increase in depression but don't know if it is due to Effexor/Cymbalta, Gabitril, Tranxene SD, Theanine, or the interaction of all this stuff! That is why I am looking at others' experiences. I have stopped Cymbalta and am reducing Gabitril to see what happens.

Well I stopped taking it, at 100 mg or more picamilon is supposed to be somewhat activating and help with focus. That didn't happen with me, it just made me more tired. If you are anxious maybe it's just the ticket though, at least it's worth a try. I was taking 2-3 of those capsules at a time a few times a day, so I guess 100-150 mg picamilon and 180-270 mg of theanine at a time. I haven't tried picamilon by itself or really taken it long enough to see whether it would poop out on me. Since then I have figured out anything that increases gaba makes me feel worse, so it's pretty much the opposite of what I need.

For me, it seems that anything that increases GABA usually makes me feel better. So Picamilon might work for me. I already take Theanine and it helps. I will let you know how I do with Picamilon. Now if I could just find the cause of the mild depression I am experiencing.

Hi
I got my order of Picamilon and Phenibut today. They are in powder form. I'll probably start with the Picamilon. After returning to work following a break, I feel ready to down both bottles completely.
What I really feel like doing is going to something like Reboxetine.
Do you have to have the faith for this stuff to work?
