...when the immune system is challenged, it has been shown recently. (Can't provide a link, just read it in a magazine).
It may well have this effect on the brain also.
Have you considered this supplement as a line of defense against (or to treat) brain inflammation, neurotoxicity etc.???
I used to take it on a consistent basis. Have not done so for at least 6 months. Am starting again today.
Amongst other attributes, it helps increase lean muscle growth, controls insulin pump, as well as being a powerful anti-oxidant.
Any experiences/thoughts?
Jas

It did work very well for my gfs dog when she was dying of cancer - She was almost a skeleton in the last stages, but CLA got her weight back, much to the vet's amazement!
Thanks for the prompt, will look at it again..

>I don't think that was the problem, I think most would have used the same source actually..and a relatively significant sample size I would guess judging from the no of posters on that forum.
I copied some of the posts from there at the time..which gives a track of the positives as far as brwon adipose fat weight loss goes(which is what they were after)..not sure if much help, but interesting
Kacy was trialling CLA then I think, and some others...not suer what has happened since.I think its one of those supps that probably a few months wouldn't hurt..but long term may not be for the best.
I agree with one of your previous comments that everything is linked(makes sense as most supps/drugs travel thru our entire body and there are usually different effects in various organs/receptors) and one can't take just look at the brain and neurons separately...unfortunately.Jan

Hi Jan:
Thanks for the thread references. From a Fitness/Weight loss interest (my new profession!), NOTHING I've researched on CLA, ever said it actually caused weight gain...so that's very interesting.
For myself, I don't have a weight problem, and anecdotally at least, find it helped increase lean muscle at a time when I was not doing any weight training. However, I WAS taking (and have for about 6 years) Chromium Picolinate. So the bit about chromium enhancing the fat metabolization and lean muscle seems to hold true for me.
(BTW I prefer to use Chromium Polynicotinate, but it's hard to get here).
Chromium supplementation has helped my blood sugar problems immensely. Prior to taking it, I regularly became lethargic and dizzy almost every afternoon. To the point where I would have to hold on to something to stop from falling, some days!
I just don't get that anymore.
Jas

Maybe I should try some chromium too..I can only get chromium picolinate as well. I need to build muscle as much as possible. I know you aren't supposed to be able to build new muscle cells after a certain age..just get what you have bigger?, oh and lose it too <g>?
Great job you have!Jan
