about the White House petition. I honestly believed I was doing a good thing giving psychobabblers a chance to sign it. I now believe I was wrong. I dont believe most of the people on this forum are good enough or have enough insight into their illnesses to sign my petition.

I just know Im not one of you people, thank God for that. At least I try, unlike a bunch of people here.

thanks,

Eric,

I am sorry that you are hurting so much that you feel like you need to lash out at people. Maybe it would be helpful to talk this out with a counselor? I do not sense that anyone here questions your intentions to further mental health research and treatment. It's a great thing to pursue. Some folks just don't feel that the petition your propose is going to accomplish your goals. I see where you were going with it, but I happen to agree with the others that it might not be the best way to go about things; it has nothing to do with understanding my illness.

This does not mean that your energy should be wasted. Wouldn't it make a whole lot more sense to join together with people on the board to brainstorm a variety of creative options to accomplish what I believe is a common goal for all of us? Many heads are better than one, and teamwork is a good way to go.

I want you to know that I'm trying to see through the harshness of your post to the distress you must be feeling. I know a lot of times anger is underlain by a great deal of sadness.

And for what it's worth, I try every day with what little energy I have, as I suspect most people here do. I try to do my work as best I can, I try to help good friends with their own life struggles. When friends are having mental health concerns, they come to me to get advice on how to talk to their doctors, etc. And with at least one of my co-workers, I think I've changed his understanding of mental illness and what a mood disorder entails. And for that, I'm grateful.

Peace to you.

Beautiful post, Emme. I need to emulate you more. I used to have good balance and restrainst here, and more compassion and understanding. Now I feel more negative reactions to some posts and posters :-( So I just don't post. And have been called out more than once for my lack of posting and its supposed 'motive.'

Merry Christmas and thanks the demonstration of civility and decency.

I'm afraid that another petition of yours will go unmet.

Generally speaking, posts are not deleted here. What you say remains "out there" - just like in "real life". If you are dissatisfied with your words, perhaps you can rephrase them - just like in real life.

Sometimes, people who protest so vehemently that they are not one of "you people" manifestly are. It just takes a little insight to recognize this.

Me, too.

Yes. Thank you, Emme.

It takes practice to remain civil when emotions run high. I am not so good at it. It takes practice, though, and that requires engagement and a willingness to make mistakes. Personally, I hate making mistakes, but something keeps motivating me to post here. I think it is the desire to interact with wonderful people like you.

10derHeart, you are not being fair to the rest of the community. You deny us you. Now, stop that!

I crave seeing you post more often.

Merry Christmas.

You want to do something noble for the cause of mental illness yet you come to a forum of people with serious mental illness and say that.

Thank God I'm in therapy because I walk around everyday mystified by people.

I enjoy seeing balance and restraint, too. :-)
