When I first joined babble you sent me a collection of photographs of some of the people here. I think they are still in my email inbox folder somewhere, if so I'm going to delete them too. I think it would be sensitive to offer everyone the opportunity to do the same with any photos and details you may have of them.

I suppose that it doesn't matter whether it's online or IRL, if someone wants to invest the energy into collecting information about others, they can do it within the limits of the law.
That said, it would feel very creepy to me to find out someone is keeping a file and collecting information about me.

Hi Philippa,
I don't remember if I've sent you anything when i first started posting here, but please delete any personal information you have about me too. Thanks, I appreciate it.
A long time ago, there was a situation that I was involunatarily involved in where someone with symptoms of paranoia and psychosis accused me of saying things I did not say, etc., and it started from personal emails shared through here by whoever. It's best to not share your personal email with anyone here.
I've also recently gotten a personal email from you, Phillipa, which appeared to be sent by a virus. Most others who received the email were psychiatrists from universities (as there was a list of them) so I'm not sure how i got included in that one. You might not be aware of that.
In the middle of the night not too long ago, Manic posted a message here (which was deleted by Dr. Bob) that said you share information about us with Dr. Bob. I don't know if it's that's true, but if it is-please do not share mine.
To everyone - stuff to consider before you ever give out a personal email or information to anyone you meet through here. Consider leaving your babble mail off permanentaly so you don't get sucked in when you let you guard down.
Dr Bob, I think we need a way to permanently delete our accounts here, a feature common to other 21st century web sites.

Something strange is sure happening here. First Violette I haven't corresponded with you. Also Maxime you never sent a picture of you to me two of your friends did that years ago. My computer has little storage space due to saving ebay stuff. Only things I've saved were babblemails that were accusatory and my replies. But I've also been receiving strange emails. I do have a copy of the one sent to me yesterday with a copy of the emails included. I hit reply and asked who it was no reply each time it happens. Okay I'm going to post the email I received yesterday with the other recipients. I have no idea who they are. Sender never contacts me back. Also was getting emails from someone name Humphries no idea who that is either. Of course I don't open them. I can't contact Bob as e-mails are off babble limits. Let me know if you're on here as maybe we need to change our emails? Here's a copy of what I received I have removed mine for security reasons. This really is getting serious. I'm posting it as asked why I don't defend myself. So attempting to now. Phillipa

Phillipa - thanks, but I'm not talking about spam emails that everyone gets. i'm referring to personal emails of people registered on this site or associated with this site - collected and stored by Dr Bob (that is one issue). They were not advertising spam and appeared to be sent from a computer/server to spread a virus. It would be sent by the virus automatically, the person the email was from would probably not even be aware of it.
Deleting your account here should delete the record on Bob's server that stores your personal email address used when you signed up here. The leaking of our personal email addresses could be happening, in part, because Bob does not secure our email addresses we used to register. Or, maybe he shares them with other people or organiztions. I don't know.
Phillipa - don't you think it might be wise to not post others email addresses here like you just did?

>That is very wise advice. Since that time (when Phillipa passed on my photo) I would only Babble mail with certain people. I would never give anyone my email. Although, after I was blocked for 3 weeks in November and December, I created an email for Psycho Babble and given certain people the address. I hope I don't get slapped in the face with it.
I always wondered how Phillipa could remember a year when I started "whatever" medication and the reaction I would have to it etc. etc etc. and now I know how.

Yes I do. Guessing no one from this site thankfully. I no longer have emails as no time to email so deleted them all. I use the archieves to look up personal meds that people take or used to take a feature seems like above poster also uses or would have no way to post an old link to posts from 2007. I noticed that those people no longer post here. Personally I prefer facebook as can delete stuff and set my own security settings. Great feature. I do not feel I will be posting here much longer as have found a very friendly site I prefer. Too much bickering here. I normally don't visit admin. Before attending a Birthday party for my Daughter just decided to see if anyone was posting on any boards. I also wish that emails could be deleted from the site. Some do change emails frequently from what I've seen and poster names also. Although I've noticed that new names are no longer posted here to notify Bob of a new name. I wonder why? Phillipa

I think the reason we cannot delete our accounts is because Dr. Bob doesn't want us to be "uncivil" or worst, and then delete our accounts only to come back as someone else. Although he does keep track of IP addresses because people who are blocked do come back with a different screen name but it doesn't take doctor bob much time to figure it out. Even if we could delete our acccounts, all our information remains part of Psycho Babble.

The gathering of information was done in 2007 and earlier I believe from what I read in the posts (maybe lately too, but I have no proof of that). I am simply asking you to delete any information you have on me. A fair and simple request.
I do know from one poster that you were eventually blocked for your behaviour.

If a member posts under a new name, they must notify Dr. Bob through admin. I don't see any new names around. Dr. Bob knows when a person has changed their screen name because they will have the same IP addy. The exception of course would be if someone moved or started posting from a friend's house.
I don't understand what you mean by "deleting emails from this site". Which emails? And if people do change their email addy, you have NO way of seeing that so why would you say "I also wish that emails could be deleted from the site. Some do change emails frequently" I changed my email to accomodate where my Babble Mails are sent, but it doesn't change anything else.I still had to register this new email with Dr. Bob's site.
I am really happy you have found a friendly site. I hope it's not on Facebook though because I don't trust that site with personal information at all. You may think you are safe, but it's really easy to hack into. Although I am sure that you will enjoy the social networking aspect of it, so that is a big positive. It will make you a happier person all around. Who knows, we may bump into each other again!

Oh no. I would not email the people from that email. I hope you have a good anti-virus programme on your computer. Seriously, if you look at the names, it looks a lot the spam I get on one my accounts.
Besides, the problem isn't what you receive. Unless of course you receive a nasty email that you can tell is from someone on PB. But rather the information you collect and send out. I don't think anyone is asking for anything extreme. We simply want you to delete any personnal files you have on us including pictures. That's all we are hoping for.

WHY would you publically post this short list of emails here if you thought my email address might be one of them? You even said you removed your own from that list for 'security reasons'. What about the rest of us? That looks like a spam message, but what if it's not - then what?
You should not be posting people's email addresses here or anything else people have emailed you before.
I have no idea how i received a personal email from you to my personal address, or why i am in your email address book along with university psychologists and psychiatrists with .edu addresses.
Hmmm. Maybe you are Dr. Bob, flitting around, collecting personal information about people who use this forum. Solstice might like that idea!
This is getting creepier. Actually, much too creepy for me.

Maxime the 2007 thread was posted by you not me. So where did the info come from if not the achieves? You didn't store this thread did you? As for the addresses Violette is right it's spam. Posted to show spam is a common occurrence irreguardless of privacy setting and software. Read the emails liquor stores, and some nasty they don't exist or if they did no one replies as wrote to them all yesterday when got home from Birthday party. It's sad that I feel those that are petitioning for amnesty for blocked posters this might not happen if some hold on to the past back to 2007. Sad. I am off again to dog groomers. Might check later. Folks here demonstrate a more sober, contemplative, and compassionate deliberation of this situation than I would if I discovered that my email address and other personal information were disseminated indiscriminately and without regard to the anonymity that is essential in order to feel that one is safe in disclosing oneself as being mentally ill in a forum like Psycho-Babble.
Phillipa, you can't possibly have done these things, could you have? I know your real name and location, and could easily pay you a visit. I have access to pictures of you. You even published a picture of yourself on Psycho-Babble. Remember? I have now recorded all of this personal information along with other sundry details about you, and saved these things on my computer. In my wildest of imaginations, it never occurred to me to compromise another poster's privacy and disclose their identity. Gosh.
I thought I was doing the right thing out of compassionate motives in exchanging email addresses with you in order to correspond. I entrusted you with my safety. If you think this is too melodramatic, then I will leave it on your conscience should the actions that you are alleged to have perpetrated prevent me from getting a job and leaving me friendless. Everyone in the whole world is watching. I hope you haven't done any of the things that people have accused you of in recent times. I don't think I would exercise the same restraint in my use of language as others here have demonstrated towards you given their beliefs regarding your behavior.
I am not accusing you of doing anything that I have no evidence of. I have never thought to investigate this situation. If I had such evidence, it would be worth a posting block to sharpen my tongue.
So far, I have no regrets in corresponding with you. Just be careful. Please.

"Read the emails liquor stores, and some nasty..."
Really? What I see are 1 person's real name, 3 peoples' personal email addresses, ZERO liquor stores and nothing "nasty" at all. The others are e-cigarette companies. Some people use these to help them quit smoking. Yeah, that's naaasty!
Oh, I forgot. I think there is a skin cream company too. How nasty! Please stop. Just stop.

I really don't think that there is any ill intent. Phillipa is one of the loveliest people I know.
That being said, I do think that there is lack of comprehension / understanding about how some (most?) of the posters here feel about their anonymity. In particular, a lack of comprehension / understanding about how when posters share such things as email addresses and photo's with her there is a display of trust that she will not pass that information onto third parties.
I engaged in some personal email correspondence with Phillipa at one point and then found I was receiving emails (in my opinion forwarded spam for the most part) to a whole bunch of people (obviously some other posters included in that bunch). The email addresses were there for all to see.
I asked Phillipa to delete my email address at that point, and I hope she has done so.
I am disappointed to hear that the situation hasn't changed since then.
Phillipa, you really are one of the most lovely, good natured people I know... I don't understand why you do this sh*t...

Scott, I have been observing for quite awhile and you seem to be the most level-headed and positive person that has stayed here.
This board seems less of a mental support board but a playground for public floggings and stonings. Here you have admitted to a complete file worthy of FBI/IRS standards and it is "ok" but another posters "assumed" actions are "creepy" and warrant ostracizing.
Do any of you Facebook or leave home? Are aliens going to decript hidden personal info from an email and come thru the monitor to take your mind? Probably not. There is more info from this board on the internet that everyone accepts when posting here that I can't understand the lynching that seem to bring more poster to the scene than actual help.
