Thanks for letting me know you don't want to punish me. I guess I just don't really understand why so many people are against my love bob posts. I start thinking people want me blocked or something.

If someone wanted to punish me for my love Bob posts, then I'd just feel bad about it. I don't think it'd affect my posts. I'd love Dr. Bob just as much and I wouldn't want to punish the other person. I'd just feel bad.

Humour is a national thing, no?
The British can do farce really well. Americans can not quite do it. Australians less so. That's in entertainment.
Americans always strike me as serious. Maybe they are? Their world is somewhat less safe than the world I grew up in. Then there's that religious vs convict ancestry.
But you are using criterion to mean purpose. I think Lou means 'By what accepted standard can you justify xxxxx and yyyyy'. Which makes me feel 'But I have no standards at all'.

I would venture a guess that more people would like to punish me than would want to punish you. Whether or not this is true, I try to remain honest and true to myself.
Scott, why would people want to punish you? That is just crazy! I am really sorry that you feel this way. Personally, I find PB is missing something when you are not around.

Deneb, what if you emailed Dr. Bob instead of posting it on the Admin board. Then he would be sure to see it and people would just drop this subject.
Or maybe you could have strarted this thread "my theory on why I love Dr. Bob" on the psychology board because it would fit in well with that board, don't you think?

It's not "so many" people. It's a very small handful. As for the *why* - I think Scott said it well. In our culture, people generally don't put their strong affectionate feelings on public display. So it makes people feel uncomfortable. You have endeared yourself to people here. Most have either become desensitized like Scott described.. or they are just able to tolerate the intimacy. A few have a harder time with the intimacy of it. But those few have made it very clear that it's not *you* they have a problem with - it's the posts talking about how you feel about Bob.
> I start thinking people want me blocked or something. It's not *you* that they want to stop seeing around here - it's just the posts about Bob.

>Deneb, I certainly don't want to punish you or see you blocked. At the same time, I want to see you continue on your journey of personal development and be the happiest individual you can be. That's where my concerns lie and where I believe the administration might not have your best interests in mind.

>Humour is a national thing, no?
Definitely. The British tend to have a different sense of humour to Americans. The British are far more self-deprecating, we laugh at ourselves more... more cynical.
>Americans always strike me as serious. Maybe they are? Their world is somewhat less safe than the world I grew up in.
I wouldn't have said they're generally more serious, but they don't make jokes about disaster. The Brits make more jokes about death, a dark sense of humour.
>But you are using criterion to mean purpose. I think Lou means 'By what accepted standard can you justify xxxxx and yyyyy'.
I'm not sure that even Lou knew what he meant.

Maybe the difference is between respect vs irreverence?
Americans seem to me to come from a respectful culture. Australians from an irreverent one.
Or to flip that around, Americans seem to Australians to wear their respect on their sleeves.
This is (needless to say) not meant with any disrespect. :)
I can recall occasions where this difference seemed to be the cause of friction here.

Irreverent towards authority? That's what it's like here.

well, that particular thrower needs a bit more practice, I'd say. Wide and high, it looked like.
People can be passionate - that part is good. Though I don't personally advocate assault as a method of communication with people - even past or present politicians.
I'll bet fayeroe can be a much more accurate thrower :-)

Oh yes, I think so too.
That Australian wasn't a patch on the Iraqi. And he threw brogues too. Quite heavy.

I'm quite busy practicing now. I'm lifting cats. Squirmy but heavy. Very good for the upper arms.

You're so witty Dr. Bob! I LOVE it when you're witty!
I don't really feel vulnerable when I love you. I just feel warm, fuzzy and happy inside! :-)

To love someone is the most wonderful feeling in the world for me! It doesn't matter if you don't love me back. I think you love Babblers as a collective and that's enough for me. :-)
