LOL I am not a little girl. I'm just short, 4'11". That's me in the middle. It was chilly and I had on a black hoodie and with my black hair it looks like I've disappeared into the night. LOL
You can't really see where my body begins and where the background begins.

Oh wow, we *are* talking about the same photo! I didn't see the person (Deneb?) in the middle at all! Well, thanks for letting me know what the photo is all about.

You all look so young.
I thought it was manic's grandkids again.

I don't get it either, Cass.
It looks like domestic violence with "it" from the Addams's family in the background. Two arms flailing is the best photo, Dr Bob could come up with? This is disturbing.
There's nothing warm or fuzzy about the photo tht suggests any sort of love, peace, or basic family function. If anything it screams dysfunction.
Arms askew, can't make out the people, who's best side is the back side of their arm?
Help them, don't illustrate them.

Maybe there's a story behind it we don't know?
I don't see anything that makes me think of violence.
I kinda like it 'cause it's odd. I like odd.

I did wonder if it was manic's gandkids behaving badly.

It was dark outside so unfortunately Deneb disappears between Racer on the right and me on the left. Our arms are stretched out because neither Racer or I like hugs. So it's an air hug around Deneb.
The babble birthday party tradition is a photo taken from the back and the only time Racer, Deneb and I were together with Bob was one night so it was then or nothing and tradition must live on.

>neither Racer or I like hugs
My feeling about hugs is what do I care, I'll just do what is necessary, hug or not, as long as I know what to do and have a series of instructions to tell me how to do it. I have no instructions to tell me whether or not I like hugs. Unfortunately, I have no instructions on how to hug either.
I'm impressed that you know what you like.

Last night I ordered some takeaway food. There were choices (of course! although in Hanoi the best restaurant in the world offered none, to my delight) which I navigated with ease and assurance. And then I was asked 'Do you want plain rice with that or nasi goreng?'
So I just stood there, completely without criteria, until he took pity on me and made the decision. No nasi goreng for me.

Why pick this one?
Of all the hundreds of photos why this one? This most ambiguous one, where arms are outstreched and mutal blows are implied.
I don't care what "didn't" happen, why torment us with it?

I don't see mutual blows at all. I don't think they're implied, although they may be inferred.
Now I recognize them as air hugs, I love the photo! Air hugs are a babble staple, along with from the back photos, so this one is a perfect photo to capture the moment.
(And all of you guys look great!)
Next year, I don't know that I'll want to be in that photo. I don't know how many are coming to the New Orleans Babble party next year so maybe there won't be a photo, but I can only imagine the remarks about my back. I saw myself once from the back on an internet site reporting on an event, and even I was revolted. I know I wouldn't want to read the comments after that was posted. I'd have to wait for the board to roll over before I returned to Babble.
:(
You guys, you look great, I love the photo, and I'm so glad you had a good time. I only wish I could be there. Although I would have looked like the incredible hulk next to you guys.

Thanks for identifying yourselves & explaining all about the photo.
When I first saw it, I thought it was sort of strange & didn't think of where it might be from.
I really like knowing the story. Now when I look at it, I feel a little as if I am part of what went on. I feel like I'll never get over the sadness I have that when it was in Toronto, I was somewhat newly returned to Babble & didn't "know" anybody!! Here it was less than an hour away & I could have actually met, IRL some lovely people, who I later came to feel close to online.
I am a real huggy person. I'm glad it was mentioned that some people don't like hugs!! Thanks for mentioning that, because it's important for me to know that for the future, in my life in general! Ask first!!! I think I already do ask, but not with the awareness that I now have.
So 'air hugs' to you all.
((((((are these kind okay?))))))
:-) love, Kath

Hi Kath,
Air hugs and cyber hugs are okay, it's just those real body contact ones I avoid whenever possible.
Maybe you should think about traveling to New Orleans next May? I'm giving it thought.

That would be wonderful!
New Orleans is so far off the beaten track that I'd been afraid no one would want to come here. :)

> Hi Kath,

> Air hugs and cyber hugs are okay,~ ~ ~ oh I'm glad - I just fling them around whenever I feel the inclination so I am glad they're okay & suspect they are for most people! Those who don't want them can tell me off! LOL

> Poet~ ~ ~ Nice idea. Unfortunately, while returning from my daughter's - 2 hours on train & 1 hour on bus, I realized that I take a chance of getting sick if I am confined in a place in public where I can't open a window, or move to a scent-free area!!! I reacted to after-shave, or perfume, AND whatever-the-heck smelly stuff was in the train washroom!!! I got dizzy, headache, sinus pain & nauseated & weak! It was scarey. Although I love travelling on trains & airplanes, I realize that for now, I can't.
:-((((((((
I would love to meet fellow PBers. Maybe one day.If it was in Toronto again I could, because I could drive down. If I'm in a restaurant, etc I have the option of moving or leaving. On public transit it's not as easy.
luv, Kath

That would be delightful! I have the typical resident's total lack of information about fun places to visit in the area. Although the French Quarter itself can be interesting to walk around. Beignets at Cafe Du Monde. Pralines at Aunt Sally's in the French Market. I haven't eaten in that area for eons, being more of a poboy and onion ring gal myself. :) (Hmmm... you can see where my French Quarter interests lie.)
May's pretty hot. :( Or at least it was this year. Last year wasn't bad. But the breeze off the river is often nice.
