Help - email address display + Babblemail

Posted by Tony P on August 5, 2008, at 19:02:18

I may be misremembering or out-of-date, but I thought there used to be a feature or option to allow you to display your email along with a normal post. I can't find it in the FAQ.

Meanwhile, I have Babblemail turned on, but I'm still not clear what it does even after reading the FAQ & a couple of posts here. Help!

Hi Tony,

Well I've only been here since 2004, but I don't know of an automatic way to do that. That doesn't mean it never existed or still doesn't, but I'm not aware of it, either. Mostly when I see people who do choose to reveal their actual emails in posts, they just type them in under their names, or anywhere in the body of the post, really, and they will become clickable once you submit the post.

As for Babblemail, it's a way to communicate with posters through this site, while keeping your actual email private. It's not too hard to use. Just open any post of the person you want to Babblemail. If they have the feature on (like you do right now) their posting name will appear in blue. Click on it and a Babblemail window will open where you can type a message to them. When you click the button "Send Babblemail," the message will be automatically sent, by the server, to the email address they gave when registering on PB. Neither party will see the other's address.

Please let me know if I can answer something more, or if this didn't help.

Sounds like a "welcome back to Babble " is is order :-)

I believe that prior to Babblemail, that feature did exist. One could choose to have their email displayed, and I think that if you then clicked on their screen name, you could see it. Or maybe it was just there if you activated it. I think Babblemail replaced this.

Tony, I sent you a test Babblemail.
