Someone explain why my name and reply come up on Deneb's link as that link is my posting link with my name. So how did Deneb hack into my personal responses page? Confused or something strange going on here making no one safe. Phillipa

Relax, PJ. Nobody sees your name on that page except you, or somebody looking over your shoulder. Your own computer stores your posting name, as a convenience to you. When I open that page, my name shows as a convenience to me. If somebody who has never posted to Babble opens that page, the poster name and password will be blank. Nobody can see anybody else's information.

Right, that was a "dynamic" page generated with information ("cookies") stored on each user's computer. And not a "static" page on the server that looked the same to everyone. To try to prevent more confusion, I deleted the pages with those links.

I understand it now Dinah was kind enough to throughly explain it to me but being a computer duh I learned something new tonight and would like to apologize to Deneb. Sorry Deneb. I just don't know computers. But seems I'm learning little by little. Love Phillipa

Is this your name?

Look Closely

How safe do you really feel?

Nothing is safe here. It's public to all the internet.

Please don't post under more than one name at once. Please follow site guidelines if you wish to change your name. I've blocked this name from posting. If you wish to change your posting name, please do so through the approved process, and please don't choose a posting name so similar to that of another poster.

let me point out that the above "Please follow site guidelines" was not given to Phillipa with two l's, but to a new posting name "Philllipa" with three l's.

It's not necessary to change your name. An extra letter could be added to any name.

When I turned off my cookies for this site I found that I had to type in "llurpsienoodle" and my pwd every single time I wished to post. It's inconvenient, but I believe it is more secure.
