> Hi, sorry Dr. Bob, I didn't mean to offend you by saying "Lovely", but I am hoping this will get your attention and I realize I'll probably be up for a Block or something for all of this, whatever it Is. What is the auto-askerisking system I am being accused of bypassing and how would I do that because I don't believe I have made that effort.
>It's able to catch the basic forms of vulgar words, as it says here in the FAQ:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
".....include words and phrases considered often or usually disparaging, obscene, offensive, or vulgar by Merriam-Webster OnLine. If you have automatic asterisking turned on (and don't bypass it), the server takes care of potentially offensive language [by replacing one vowel with an asterisk], but some unnecessary asterisking may occur. If you turn off automatic asterisking [which you can do via registration], you have more freedom to express yourself, but you're also responsible for your language."
If one of the words from the list of vulgar words (from Merriam-Webster) is used in a compound word, that is considered bypassing the system to prevent it from editing the word. This can happen inadvertently, though the poster is still responsible for language.
Hope this helps.

One of its limitations is that it's not very smart about which vowel to replace, would it be better if it just replaced all of them?

I would think that would be wiser.
