Did this change? Are blocked posters able to receive? and send? babblemail?

Nope, you can't send or receive babblemail while blocked. Tried it just last week myself. Anyone in particular you're wanting to contact? Many people are in contact with blocked posters via private email and can forward messages to them if you want.

Blocked posters should be able to receive babblemail, but not send it.

However, there seems to be some technical problems.

Okay, the technical problems thing. I've sent babblemails to blocked posters that seemed to go out okay, but I'm almost certain they were never received.

I sent one to you, dude, while you were blocked. I suppose you never got it?

Yeah, ditto I tried to send one to Declan, but he probably hasn't got it.

Nope didn't get it, and all thread update notifications generated while you're blocked aren't delivered when you start posting again either. I guess they've all been swallowed by the babble server and will never see the light of day again?

Declan was trying to babblemail me when I was blocked last time, Dr. Bob thought he'd fixed the problem but it seems not. http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20070123/msgs/731298.html.

I seem to recall that the problem can be fixed by updating the registration, but I don't know the particulars at all.

i think that it is totally irational to block someone from babblemail. as if not posting here isn't enough when it may be the only social contact they have..........i had no idea that a blocked person couldn't receive babblemail or reply. that's just plain silly........and too controlling.........

I think they (at least in theory) can receive babblemail. Maybe one day that that clich will be worked out.

At first blush I thought it was outrageous that a blocked poster couldn't send babblemail as well.

However, things can get pretty heated on the board and I've seen some posters just attack another poster.

Now if the attacker is blocked, but could still send babblemails, then what is to stop them from continuing the attack via babblemail?

In theory, blocks are designed to be a cooling off period to allow a poster to step back, calm down and potentially return to the board after the intensity of the moment as gone. I think that should apply to sending babblemails as well.

I'm on the record, however, for believing that blocks should be no more than a week.

My question is though, if a poster who is blocked received a nasty babblemail from another poster can they forward that on to Dr. Bob for a civility determination or do they have to wait until their block is over?

Is this a "hypothetical" question or a personal one for you, madeline? Are you asking about something you received or something someone else received?

I believe you asked this question previously, but a blocked poster has access to send something to Dr. Bob's e-mail.

& for the record, I believe Dr. Bob has received the babblemails JeffSmith has been talking about already. I'm not sure if that's what this is all about. I just needed to clarify.

Is babblemail between civility buddies exempt? If someone picked a buddy unwisely what is to prevent the "buddy" from forwarding the email on to bob if she or he believed it to be uncivil?

If someone got email they don't like from someone why couldn't they just delete any future emails from that person without involving bob? Don't babblemails show who the sender is before you open them? ( I don't use it and I don't know.)

If anyone talks to Declan please warn him that giant toads are in Darwin and on the march. Big as dogs they say and poison. The citizens are organizing into Frog Patrols and capturing them for liquification into fertilizer. The world is a scarey place. Thank you for keeping us safe dr bob.

& here's the link -

http://www.nbc5.com/family/11403473/detail.html?rss=chi&psp=nationalnews

"Frogwatch is dedicated to wiping out a toxic toad species that has killed countless Australian animals since it was imported from South America in the 1930s in a failed attempt to control beetles on sugar cane plantations.

Frogwatch conducts regular raids on local water holes, then blinds the creatures with bright lights, scooping them up by the dozen. The toads are killed with carbon dioxide gas and put through a liquid fertilizer process that renders them nontoxic."

i'd also like for Declan to know that i haven't been able to determine which political party these huge toads represent, so he should be extra careful if he stumbles up on them.

Oh! I can see where you are coming from.

But this was just a hypothetical on my part.

I think I just need a primer on babblemail, there's just not a lot about it in the FAQ.

I may have, in fact, asked this question before. It's strange I can remember the name of my first grade teacher, but I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday.

Dr. Bob And All Readers,

-In this thread, on 3/30, the following quoted statement has been written about/regarding me in this particular post: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20070304/msgs/745391.html
-Quote: "I believe you asked this question previously, but a blocked poster has access to send something to Dr. Bob's e-mail.
& for the record, I believe Dr. Bob has received the babblemails JeffSmith has been talking about already. I'm not sure if that's what this is all about. I just needed to clarify." End Quote.

-Now:
Wow. I have absolutely no idea how or why this person possibly could have came to "BELIEVE" that Dr. Bob has received the babblemails Ive been talking about. This person can "BELIEVE" anything they care to, however let me provide the rest of you with the FACTS about me and my activities:

-I have sent ZERO and NONE of the babblemails in question to Dr. Bob or ANY other person whatsoever either by babble mail, E-mail, snail mail, carrier pigeon, pony express or any other means whatsoever.
No one has requested I send them anything and therefore I have NOT done so: My offer was to send them to anyone interested in reading them upon THEIR request.

-So:
#1- Dr. Bob:
Have I, Jeff Smith, ever sent you ANY e-mail, babblemail or any other form of communication WHATSOEVER regarding anything to do with this situation/the babblemails in question??? A simple yes or no certainly cant be considered uncivil to reveal can it???

#2- And to all other members of psycho babble: Have I, Jeff Smith, ever sent you ANY e-mail, babblemail or any other form of communication WHATSOEVER regarding anything to do with this situation/the babblemails in question???

#3- If I did so then could you please provide the date and any form of proof that would prove I sent this to you, and also an explanation as to what I said or was sent to you? Better yet please go ahead and copy/quote the exact (bmail, email, pigeon dropping, whatever) and please post it here for all to see. You have my permission so I cant see how it would be considered "uncivil" to post/quote anything that I may be "believed" to have sent or said to anybody, but if it is then perhaps you can post it somewhere/anywhere else on the web for anyone to see any such information that anyone "believes" you may have??

- My above stated requests also please apply to the following two people, however I have sent them each one babblemail in the recent past so the following two exact circumstances do not apply.

#1- Racer:
-I originally posted this ----> http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/psycho/20070324/msgs/744683.html on 3/27 in which I explained that after I received my "Be Civil" post by Racer, in regard to my post "Learning Lessons From XXXX", I then replied to her (Racer) by babblemail and explained /gave her a brief synopsis as to why I had written that post. I knew I couldnt publicly/civily fully explain myself so I figured I would at least explain why I was "uncivil" to her.
Again, in that babblemail from me to Racer I never included anyone's babblemail messages to me or mine to them: I simply briefly explained what took place in those mails and proceeded to "uncivilly" express my opinion of the person who sent them to me.
And that was that.

-Racer:
Here's my permission for you to post my babblemail to you here...which unfortunately would obviously be "uncivil" due to disparaging remarks so better yet you too may post it, if you ever desire, any other place on the web where people can read it if they wish, which Im sure they dont: I'm just tryin to make my point.
I also give you my permission to send my babblemail to you to anyone whomsoever wants to read it.

#2- Gardenergirl:
On 3/25 GG posted the following addressed to me: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/psycho/20070324/msgs/744229.html which had no message and just said "Loved watching the opening sequence evolve". I then babblemailed her and simply said that if she was referring to my post "Learning Lessons From XXXX" then thank you and Im glad you enjoyed it. : ) or something similar to that (I dont remember my exact words to her since I didnt bother to have a copy of that bmail sent to me when I sent it to her since I had no reason to want it or save it. The same thing goes for my bmail to Racer).
And that was that.

-Gardenergirl:
You too have my permission to post my bmail to you (which was not "uncivil") here or anywhere else and/or send it to any person who may request you do so, etc, etc.......

Well I hope that clears that up (again) and thank you all for reading and also for cooperating if you have any information... or non information to provide. : )

Thanks Zazenduckie. : )

-And also, in my last thread you replied with this: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/psycho/20070324/msgs/743646.html
In that reply you said: "Have you tried looking here? http://therapists.psychcentral.com/psychcentral/"

-To which I got side tracked from answering you at that point, so:

Yes, I did. Right after I saw your link I looked in my area and found several prospects (but I also have an appointment for 4/20 elsewhere so I haven't got in touch w/ any of them yet).
Thanks a lot for your kind post and for taking the time to look up potential prospects in my area too. : )
