Dr. Bob, are suicidal threats considered provocati

Posted by Deneb on June 28, 2006, at 20:52:42

Dr. Bob, are threats of self harm considered to be provocation for uncivil behaviour?

You shortened a block once for someone who was uncivil towards me. That hurt me, Dr. Bob, even though that person was my friend. It seemed like you thought it was okay that that person was uncivil towards me because I was threatening self harm. Do you feel sympathy for the person who was uncivil? You wouldn't feel angry if I threatened to OD or kill myself, would you?

Dr. Bob, why do people get so angry sometimes when I'm feeling self destructive?

Dr. Bob, some people get a lot of PBCs and are never blocked. How come I've only gotten two PBCs? :-(

Why would you think I want to get blocked Phillipa?

Deneb I've gotten to PBC's too. That's all. It sounded like you thought two PBC's should mean a block. Love Phillipa

..you know Deneb, it's important not to treat morbid thoughts lightly, they are serious, they alarm people, really make them worry, A LOT!!

there's not so much people can do to help someone online who is in such desperate trouble!! -why it is important to seek help in real life in such an instance...

if you say you are sad, angry, etc talking can help, people can respond to you comfortably, without feeling like they have to call an ambulance!!

If you pardon me, I think you're worrying too much about this....Dr. Bob's very position as an administrator is to IGNORE most posts, and simply delegate the PBC's/blocks!

~~~ I think it could be because it's a VERY serious issue and fearfulness, pain and anger can be all the same to some folks. I know I feel all those emotions when I read such posts. It's one of the only things that I can say truely is painfully to me to encounter on this site. Having lost someone very dear to me by suicide, well, it's painful for me to read. But, I know its discussion is allowed on this site and I accept that but I greatly understand why some sites don't allow such discussions.
