I'm sure there are plenty of people who can't drink alchohol because of their meds, Deneb. You don't need to stop taking your medications.

I don't drink. Keep taking your meds.
Last year, in Chicago we found that we were super exhausted by Saturday late afternoon. We met first for dinner on Friday. So I think we should be aware that we might not want to jam pack every minute of every day. Some time when we are just hanging out (and some alone time) is helpful.
I love the zoo. And I love ice cream.

Does Dr. Bob drink? I want to join Dr. Bob in drinking. I don't drink a lot. Usually I don't drink at all because I don't like alcohol. I only tolerate it when it doesn't taste like alcohol, but I want to try stuff like Tequila and Scotch and stuff. There is so much I have yet to experience! I won't stop taking my meds. I think I'll take a small sip. I wonder if Dr. Bob could not completely finish his drinks and let me have the last sip to try?

Just hanging out together would be fine with me, as would time alone to do whatever we want.

OK, that's one person for zoo and ice cream. :-) Anyone else?

Just so you know, the zoo is really far from downtown. I am sure the subway goes there but it's an all-day activity.

And you should *not* stop your meds in order to drink. That would be two errors in judgment, in my opinion.

I haven't booked airfare or hotel, yet, so I can't say for sure, but right now I am planning to get there Saturday morning and leave Monday afternoon.
We need to find a place and time to meet before we can really plan what else to do. Meeting at the restaurant in Chicago was perfect. We decided from there what to do the next day.
I've been to Toronto, but don't know it well enough to suggest any place to meet. So, Tour Guide Larry, help us out on this one.

I won't really drink Larry. If people can leave a few drops for me after they finish their drink, I can taste it.

Do you know your way around the transit system Lar? I'm afraid of getting lost on a bus or subway.

That San Francisco thread got me thinking...about making conversation.
I'm not much of a conversationalist. I let others do most of the talking. I don't really have anything interesting to talk about. I don't really have a life yet.
I don't know if I'm going to have much in common with other people who are going. I suspect not. Am I going to be the weird girl in the corner? Am I going to hide my face? What if I hide my face? What if I get really scared and homesick? No one can rescue me then.
I think people will talk and talk and I would just sit there, too afraid to make conversation.
What if I don't fit in? I think the people who are going will have much more life experience than I do. What if I get lonely?
Worried.

Let's do something really outrageously fun.

You shouldn't delay booking accomodations. Since December, there has been a significant number of hotels showing no available rooms for that weekend. It's the first long weekend of the summer season (Monday is a holiday), and with the size of the psych convention, there is a lot of pressure on available lodgings.
Some of the universities (U of T, Ryerson) might have residence rooms open for the summer period.

The last couple of times I've been to Toronto, I tried to look at the city as if I was doing the tourist thing, but that's not much help for finding a good place to meet. I know my way around the city quite thoroughly, but not much of anything about what's hot and what's not.
I welcome any suggestions about how to get something set up. Does anyone know a good place in downtown Toronto?

I haven't been to a zoo since I was in San Francisco!!...about 12 years ago, half my life.
Sheesh, I feel old writing 12 years ago!
Ooooh, what about Ontario Place? Is it a good theme park?

I haven't been to Ontario Place for many years, and I think it's not what I remembered. It has a wonderful location, right on the shore of Lake Ontario; it has an IMAX theatre; I used to play for hours and hours in a huge playground there.
I don't think I'd meet the height restrictions now - too tall (too old, more like it).
CSIdeas for places to Meet Up:
The Eaton Centre (many choices for restaurants)
Outside one of the great museums - the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum. the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario)
Chinatown
Queen Street between Yonge and Spadina. Gets funkier as you head west :-)
City Hallum, I know I can think of more possibilities.

Do you know any specific places in the Eaton Centre? For someone who lives so close by, I really am not too aware of amenities and such. I could do some scouting, if need be, but I don't have any idea what I'd even by looking for.
