Could you check your autoasterisking program? When I looked up cr*p, it said it was usually vulgar. Shouldn't that make it part of the auto-asterisking program?
On the other hand, b*stard appears to be ok unless it's used negatively against another poster?

Personally I just say carp instead. As in Holy Carp! They're not very well-liked fish so I think it works as an expletive.

The thing is, the program can't differentiate between different senses of the same word. Which I think people already know... :-) Anyway, I think it's usually used in its second sense:
