I just found some good reasons for this rule.
>But Babble is full of posters in need. Posters that can't afford their daily meds. Posters who are losing their homes. I've often been frustrated at my inability to help more tangibly. But if Dr. Bob allowed appeals for help here, I'd be more frustrated by the overwhelming need and my lack of ability to meet it. I'd be frustrated trying to decide where I should allocate my limited funds. I'd be worried that there would be implicit expectations. If you helped XXX why not YYY. Do you like XXX better? It's a good general rule for the board, and the posters who posted knew the likely result.

Geez I was idealistic...I really need some real life experience.

I'm so sorry for my naiveté people. Am I going to get in trouble again? :-( Sigh, I'm probably not a good person to be on that planning committee after all.

Deneb I think it was a good idea. I still don't see why something couldnt be worked out. Obviously there would be restrictions but maybe anonomously people could donate money towards the *party* which would indirectly affect babblers, maybe for accomodation or something like that. Realisticly Im not sure if enough money could be raised but it was/is a nice thought.

I have an idea!
How about we turn getting T-shirts into an activity? We can tie-dye them! Then we can have everyone sign our shirts! It can be great fun! I can buy the dyes! What do people think?

Maybe we could make a couple of extra T-shirts and sign them for people who can't make it but still want to participate.

We still have more than 7 months to go people!
My tie-dye thing is only a suggestion. :-P
Feel free to come up with activities of your own. We can take a vote or something.
Does NC and SC stand for North and South Carolina? You'll have a long drive! The Babble Party will coincide with the American Psychiatric Association meeting Dr. Bob intends to attend in May in Toronto, Canada.

Toronto? Awesome! That's close enough that I just might conceivably be able to come, money permitting.
I'm afraid I'll have to spend much of my time hidden away with my books even if I can go, as it's towards the end of the exam period, but it would still be cool to go. But I'm afraid getting ahead of myself is a great hobby of mine, if obsessing over grad school before I've started undergrad is any indication...

I'll be a guest speaker for your classes. I could impart my infinite wisdom into our blossoming youth. Encourage them to delve deeper into one's psyche to purge the demons within.
I wonder if I'm I too old for beer bongs?

I wouldn't be brave enough to present anything myself, but I might be brave enough to be the voice for other people here.
I would be willing to voice the opinions and views of people who cannot attend the event. I will quote you word for word. ;-)
