Read a newsgroup post, this one for instance:
See how you can view all the posts at once? And just read them one after the other. This is how dr-bob should be. No clicking to change between posts, when looking at a big thread this takes an enormous amount of clicking.

You know about the split screen function right?
That kind of allows one to do that...

One of the reason I *don't* go to other sites is that I have problems with lists like that.
I really like the way it's done here, one at a time. But 'next' and 'previous' buttons on a thread would be handy.

There is, however, a way to view all the posts at once:

I don't think doing it by default the other way would be practical here, where there are threads that consist of thousands of posts...

The frames option does not work like google groups, unless there is something wrong with my browser. What is appears to do is let you see both the thread titles and the individual posts at once. But not multiple posts.
For super long threads, google divides them into pages.
It just seems that 99% of the time I am reading more than one, if not all posts in a thread. If I could just read them all (or at least more than one) on one page there would be a lot less clicking and scrolling involved. Next and previous buttons would be a nice compromise though.

That's how "view all" does it, too...

I suppose the best thing would be to offer a choice. But first I'll work on the buttons. :-)

This is the end of the thread.
