For example, I don't read 2000 because it is so specifically for those who have been here a long time. I feel as if I am opening someone elses mail. In any event, if I read there, I would not be able to reply.
Is it bad manners to read boards that are that specific?

I like that people like partlycloudy read my 2000 posts.. Most people understand, or atlest realise, I don't like posting my personal stuff on social anymore.. but I do like my friends knowing how I am doing etc. I know PC can read my messages there, and sometimes she'll fly off an email to me on the back of it!
I no longer know many people on social.. and its simply too "hectic" for me.. I like smallness of our 2000 group.. I just wish some others, such as PC, were able to also post there!!
I want a board for Nikki's friends *L* I feel it should be allowed for being one of the longest residents here!!Nikki xx

I think that having a place where the original babblers can post to each other, knowing the others and their backgrounds as well as they do, must be very comforting. Ugh, I hate run-on sentences like that!

Its too easy for me to use partlycloudy as an example, as now I@ve met her in real life, I feel some kind of.. (oh tis is gonna sound sooooo cheesy *L*) special bond with her *L*
But I hope everyone knew what I meant..
And remember, its not just newbies that feel left out of "cliques".. I know 2000 must seem like one, and I guess it is.. but PB Social is a scary place!! *l*

I don't like the idea. It would tend to let others feel like outsiders, like me, because I'm just a poster and have no history with any others. It would make me feel left out. :(AG

Because I suffer from Social Phobia. And as such, I much prefer to socialise with those that I know, and those that know me.
When I post on social, people that don't know me might misconstrue what i say.. but on 2000 the people really know me, and generally know what I am getting at.
I'm at a point in my life where I don't want to have to make dozens of new friendships (that probably soudns evil).. and also, there are simply too many posters at social for me now. I *know* that anyone can read 2000, but to me, it feels like I am sharing with friend and not total strangers.
Wierd I know.. but this *is* called Psychobabble!! *l*

I can perfectly understand. I'm a moderate social phobic myself.
I don't post here as much as I used to. There were several times that things I said were misunderstood, or my motives were seen as less than friendly. I found myself apologizing and backpeddling more than I can handle right now.
You should do what is right for you. I share in your dream, but I do remember that there was some hurt when the 2K board was created and I wouldn't want that to occur again either.

Theres was a 2001 board added too.. it wasn't *only* a 2000 board that was added..
I am excluded from the student forum (though I am hoping to study, it won't be through a University as such, and so I will still be excluded!!).. I don't see people writing about their hurt over that one!!!
I'm thinking more and more that my time here is coming to an end.. but I refuse to leave as this place is like a home for me.. I've been posting so long, so many people DO get me here, and I have made some amazing friends. But every day it gets harder to not just throw my hands in the air and walk away.
Like everything in life, politics seem to have taken over. Instead of people being thankful someone, out of their own pocket, has provided such an amazing place for us, people (and I don't mean that as in everyone, just as in more than a few) seem more intent on complaining and causing problems.. That upsets me. I am SO SO thankful for this place, somewhere safe where I know my internet troll won't be able to constantly abuse me, that it saddens me that people expect more from it than can always be given.Nikki

I wasn't posting here when the y2k board was added. But if I were, I would have voted for it. (that is, if I had a vote - does anyone here??)
To me it was a wonderful idea. I spent month going through the archives for information and, though I wasn't one of the posters I could feel the special relationship that you guys had.
Although sometimes I feel like a voyuer when I look at the y2k board, I am grateful that it is there. It even gives me a feeling of roots.....
I too am glad for this place.

Oh good grief, Dr. Bob. As if we don't get enough accusations of cliquiness right now, you're seriously considering the notion of letting someone setting up a room and inviting who can join? What on god's green earth do you think is going to happen to the current level of people who feel like no one likes them on the board, when you go and add a feature that lets just about everyone know for sure who likes who.
Geesh. It's enough to make me think this *is* some sort of freakish experiment.

OK, this is not what I intended to happen. I was curious because I am fond of so many and like to share in their lives, even if it means only reading. I was feeling guilty and now I know I need not. If I would like to respond to anything on 2000, I will babblemail that person if possible.
But I did not intend for my original enquiry to bring about further possible "division" on the board.
Dr Bob - you know that I have given up campaigning for a parents board - but if there are to be any more boards, perhaps that can be considered first.
