Please ignore my last message. I was getting caught up in excess enthusiasm.

Thanks

eek, imagine if she knew about *our* swearfest of a meeting. (not that the swearing would be her biggest concern, but still...it adds to the dangerousness. e.g., sprained tongues are always a big concern among moms.)

Hi crushed,
Moms can just have the filthiest minds when it comes to sprained tongues and how a person gets one. ;) Atti

No worries. I'll steer us in a more administrative direction right away. Do you think Dr. Bob wears pants when administrating PB? ;) Atti

I'm interested, but I think it would be unwise of me to commit to help plan it at the moment.

No problem, what if we just started here with ideas? Which anyone could contribute?

Ok, here's my idea.

We keep it as absolutely anonymous as possible. Which may make staying at the same place completely optional.

I'd like to go as Dinah. My husband would never let me go as anyone else.

Sure, why not? People can be as anonymous as they'd like.

But money might be needed for a deposit on a reservation or something, so I might need to ask for checks?

I'm still up for it and wanting to help plan. Should we decide upon a venue first? Just as a central meeting place?
And yes, I would be willing to offer a deposit to secure a location.
I would be happier to keep it anonymous.

I just wanted to pop in somewhere in this thread....

My circumstances are too subject to factors that I can't control, and as a result, I cannot commit to coming to the gathering. I would like to come, but I may not know if I even can come, until even a week before it is scheduled.

I like that it's going ahead.

Venue and costs

Posted by partlycloudy on January 16, 2005, at 16:02:50

In reply to Re: planning, posted by Dr. Bob on January 16, 2005, at 7:38:28

I was thinking we could have a central meeting place - what do people think about

a meeting hall like a VFW or Legion? ($)
or
a more formal room like for a party in a hotel? ($$$)

I assuming this will be a very casual meeting, or will we have to arrange for the crowns for the King and Queen of Babble to be commissioned?

What about burgers (including veggie burgers) and dogs at an outdoor site. Maybe a picnic?

May I suggest the Lincoln Park area if anyone is interested in drinks and/or dining in the evening?

I've seen many different suggestions, but is there a clear consensus on what everyone would like to do?

I think a park is a great place to gather together and have a picnic. I guess I was thinking of quirky Chicago weather (having been surprised a couple of times there) and having a place where we can officially loiter.
