I just get a white screen - no box to post in. I know that they can be picky, picky, picky about how we spend our time at work, and they recently did something or other so that we can't play games online (though we can still download free trials). I couldn't even play Conway's game of life (which has relevance for my classes dammit!). Could this have something to do with why I can't get open?
Feeling verrrrrrry technologically challenged today :-(

I've heard of offices somehow doing that. But I *am* technologically challenged so I wouldn't know how.
Do you erase your babble cookies? The few times I've accessed babble from work, I've been absolutely paranoid about erasing my cookies. :)

I have my own machine that nobody can use except me or an administrator. Information Technology Services produces a printout of all the sites I access which is sent on to my department for billing.
This has always been my situation, but nothing has happened except the games block - but then that was many of us...
I worry about it a bit - but I can't worry too much as it is my only internet access.

Why are you paranoid about erasing the cookies?
All my time on babble is from work. Should I take this precaution?
I'm one of those intellectually challenged folk when it comes to the technical side of the internet.

My computer is not totally private. I don't want my bosses getting curious about my internet history, then having cookies to link me to Dinah. Actually, they'd probably be able to figure out who I am if they stumbled across here.
So I'd rather they never knew Babble existed.

I can't enter open from university computers. I've forgotten what the name is for the thing they won't allow (which open needs to work), but games need it too - so I can't play them either :(

That makes sense. I have heard that it is something to do with Java, but I am technologically challenged and so I have no idea really. I worry about people finding out about the site etc too as it would be pretty obvious who I am as well.
ITS wouldn't really care, though. They don't know me personally anyway and they are too busy networking doom to do any real work :-) If worst comes to worst I'll just have to say that it is part of my research!

Actually, when I was in Australia last summer I was pretty paranoid about erasing cookies and my history as well. I do think that it is pretty futile in my case though, as they keep a record of sites accessed.
Don't mean to encourage paranoia or anything, but can't someone really bent on being nosey just set a system restore anyhow? Or do cookies and history not restore?
This is the end of the thread.
