Dr Bob,
I meant nothing contentious or confrontational... She asked in her post for ideas... She shared that she suffered from self loathing... I shared that seeking self-respect is always better for adults to do than seeking self loathing... I may have said it badly, but I meant well...
My premise is that if you are good at self-loathing, ask your therapist how to seek self-respect, since self-loathing is a bad habit that can be stopped once you start seeking self-respect... Self-respect and self-loathing cannot exist at the same time and in the same place...

PS: my insite is self awareness, not other awareness... I straightened this out successfully to and for myself around May of 1988... Incidently, if you are bewildered by my promotion of "rites of passage" I refer to as persoanl emancipation processes, that's from personal experience... August 2004 "Utne Reader" ppgs 63 to 74, is about what I did in May 1988... Please read and ponder the possibilities...

I don't think anyone's saying you did. But she still can make that request...
