How about Psychotherapy Babble? There should be something in the name to distinguish it from the medication board.

One vote here to change the name to "Psychotherapy Babble".

Not to be pedantic, but psychology is not just psychotherapy. Psychotherapy is just one application of psychology.

The name always bothered me for that reason.

Plus, the babble that takes place there is heavily focused on therapy issues like transference, crushes on therapists, interpretation of dreams, and so forth. These things aren't really "psychology", but rather psychotherapy (usually of the psychodynamic variety).

That's my vote! Of course, I'm not usually a huge participant there because I prefer a different type of psychotherapy over the type that is predominantly discussed. So you might weigh the votes of the "locals" there more heavily.

Matt

Hmm, that's two votes for that already, and I do like it better than the current name, too, but I was hoping to make it "PB something" if possible... Psycho-Babble Psychotherapy = PB Psychotherapy?

I still think it's a bit limiting, but I don't suppose that matters. You *will* explain in the introductory paragraph though, won't you? I remember times, as Judy reminded me, that the conversation was on psychological matters rather than strictly therapy. Defense mechanisms, dissociation, etc.

5 to 3

So we have five votes to leave it as is, and 3 to change to Psycho-Babble Psychotherapy.

I agree with Dinah. Where does it leave subjects that are not strictly about therapy? It seems this would be like changing Psycho-Babble to Psycho-Babble Effexor just because there have been days where it seemed that that was the only thing on that board. I've been hoping that with time the subject matter on psychological babble would get broader not narrower. If the name is restrictive some of us will just ignore that (with a creative rationale about how UFO's really are a form of therapy or the like) but it will turn others away before they even read your introduction.

How about one of the following, or a variation on a theme of one of the following:

Mind and Behavior Babble

Psychobabble - Mind and Behavior

Mind and Behavior Psychobabble

Mind, Behavior and Therapy Babble

Psychobabble - Mind, Behavior and Therapy

Psychobabble - Mind, Behavior & Talk Therapy

I could go for pb psychotherapy or how about PB Psychotherapy Plus or Psychotherapy Etc. or Psychotherapy Et. Al. or PB "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most." (with credit to Mr. Wilde.)

To me, Psychological Babble reminded me too much of Psycho Babble (just aurally speaking) so I could deal with the new name.

I really do not want to see it changed.

Sb17 has some good name ideas, I have one more to add to it.

Psycho Babble Psychology and Therapy

I don't want to lose the word psychology in the title, it would seem like less of a change to me.

I still like that name the best!

Do it. I'm moving to Writing and Alternative. Since I don't have any T stories to share, I've been a duck outta water. I've shared my personal GROWTH stories and don't seem to connect with anyone. Perhaps Alternative is more like 12 step, Self-Help, and other GROWTH THERAPIES.

Will vitamins and exercize now be part of health?

PB Psychotherapy

You already have Alternative... you could make it Alternative-Psychology... or at least instruct that that is Alternative's intent

'Psycho-Babble Therapy+' is ok with me

I agree with everyone so far about the name-change, so my views are pretty divided.

"Psycho-Babble Therapy" follows the name convention and is easy to say (in my head).

"Psycho-Babble Psychotherapy" is a little long. "Psychotherapy" doesn't add much clarity to "Therapy" -- at least not within the Psycho-Babble site.

Shar's idea is good. How about "Psycho-Babble Therapy+" ? It's short and would remind us that digressions from a strict therapy topic are okay there.

Maybe someday there'll be a page here with just discussions of non-clinical psychology research & applications. We could call it "Psycho-Babble Non-clinical".

I think that's worked out well. I guess for the sake of consistency Psycho-Social-Babble should also be renamed Psycho-Babble Social? Any objections?

While you're at it...Psycho-Babble really oughta be Psycho-Babble Medications. I know it's sacred ground, but it would be a lot less confusing to new comers.

I know, one step at a time? Also, maybe there's somewhat less confusion than before?
