I would like to say a thank-you to Dr. Bob for the general design of this board, and especially for the 2-step way posting works.
Somehow, seeing my post in a more open format allows me to get a better "feel" for how it will be perceived by others (as well as fixing the nit-picking typos my compulsive nature usually won't let by!).
Email, and by extension posting to a BBS, is fraught with perils - without tone of voice and other non-verbal cues, simple statements suddenly sound didactic and patronizing; often what I thought I had explained adequately comes out as incomplete and incomprehensible to the person who doesn't already know me; and sober second thought is always valuable, especially when I'm in an angry, ranting or soapbox mood!
