Dr. Bob,

>>>My password ceased to work (memory lapse on my part, probably) and I've tried countless times to re-register over these past couple of months. Finally got it to work today!
All the Best,
Lorelai<<<
This seems to be dragging on with old-timers who used to post to this site....lapsed in their posting for a while and now cannot reregister without endless frustration and troubles. Please help these people. It took me a matter of days to work out my reregistration problems when I reposted sometime back in Sept or Oct (I think).
This is very odd and I would like to know what changed in your protocol that makes it so very
difficult for members (previously posting members) to continue their usage of this site.Thanks.

May your new year bring you whatever it is that a pdoc may want. ;)

Bob, that problem Alii mentions dates from back in the middle of November. This is the first post -
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20020918/msgs/8151.html
- in the thread dealing with registration problems. ZeeZee was one of the first to ask what was going on. A number of us had problems posting again when we hadn't for a few days. Those who had problems but managed to post, did so by using a new email addy.It seemed that you did some sort of overhaul of your program (not sure what) back then. Those who posted everyday at least once had no difficulties, but those of us who skipped a few days between posts, it asked us to re-register. When we tried to, it said we were blocked.
I emailed you back & forth for a while, & you tweaked it till mine worked. But those who never did post, either due to blocks or because they didn't want to then, still can't seem to.
Whatever you did that let me re-register without PB automatically saying I was blocked, is what'll need to be done for them, I assume. (And I wasn't even blocked then either.) Hope you can fix it for others. I think that's why we haven't seen some of the older posters around any more. I miss them a lot.

In above post I said ditto to what IsoM had written.
She sums up quite nicely that a portion of posters seem to be quieter than usual and a fair number seem to be having trouble with reregistering.
There was some site tweaking and since that time I'm afraid some of those previous posters may have given up on reregistering.
Your user base here Dr. Bob is a bunch of people with mental illness. The last thing anyone with mental illness needs is the frustration of trying like mad to post to a site that once helped you only to be turned away again and again.
When one is depressed perhaps that one can't raise the second effort to reregister and may not ever again.
The fine print of this site still reads something to the effect of I'd rather help a fewer people than help many? Wasn't it something like that?
November 19th is the last time a friend of mine tried to get in to this site and has given up and now is trying to figure out a new name to use. How lame is that? You discourage posting under two names yet previous posters cannot get through with their names with this strange new reregistration most of us have has to go through.
All I want for the new year is the answer to why the reregistration process is so darned difficult?

I thought I fixed the problem she ran into...

What happened when your friend tried to get in? I'd love to try to help, but I don't know what's wrong...

The Nov. 19th date was just from an e-mail my friend wrote to me to express absolute distraughtness at not being able to post on a site they had been posting to for months to maybe a year. I'm not sure you are aware of how much of a lifeline this site can be to some in the depths of their mental illness and I felt very helpless not being able to help my friend get back on this site.
I have no idea if my friend was able to finally navigate the reregistration process due to a break in the cognitive difficulties their depression clouds their mind with or if your reregistration process has all its bugs worked out.
I'm just happy to see my pal posting again. Thanks for trying to help. I'm guessing things are fixed now.

P.S. Total aside here Dr. Bob but the washed out effect to the pic at the top of the pages is downright spooky. Are you just playing with your photoshop? When it first came up today I thought someone had readjusted my monitor settings to washed out!! :)

It's not Photoshop, but yes, I increased the brightness and decreased the contrast...
