Anyone had difficulty downloading Dr. Gershon's talk ? Each time I try, the connection times out; I know my quicktime works, as I've tested it elsewhere on film clips etc.
Thanks,
Col.

What version of QT are you using? And on what kind of computer? In QT Settings, under Streaming Transport, have you tried Auto Configure? And is it set to UDP or HTTP? Thanks for your patience,
Bob

Hi Bob,After much tinkering, trying UDP ,HTTP and different ports,I think I'll concede defeat!!
Connection times out on UDP, and disconnects on HTTP (but HTTP streaming isn't available, right?)
I'm running Win.XP, and there shouldn't be any incompatibility issues if I can use quicktime elsewhere.Never mind, I think I get the thrust of the talk from some of the feedback on PB.Thanks anyhow.
Col.
ps. where did you find the time to learn all about TCP/IP transport protocols, frames etc. ??
I'm impressed!

I wouldn't say I know *all* about them! :-)

Just a note you may want to pass onto others. I have a cable internet connection, and I was wondering why I was having problems getting the 'Grand Rounds' QT video to play. Well, I have had this problem in the past on other multimedia sites, and found it was my firewall that slowed down, or prevented me from viewing the stream.
So, for now I have to shut my firewall down on certain sites when I view multimedia components. (I.e. QuickTime, Windows Media, etc.) If people can't do that, or are uncomfortable doing so, it may be best for them to contact their firewall software manufacturer.
Hope that helps :-)
