Therein lies the problem.
From the FAQ: These are message boards for mutual support and education.
How is pressuring the users of this site about their CHOICE not to use the double double quote feature supportive?
Curiously,
Alii

Was someone really "pressuring" you to do this? I'm just curious; I don't read all the posts, so I don't know what you mean.
I responded above with an alternative way of looking at what you're supporting when you use the feature. I didn't know if you saw it. Please don't think I'm pressuring you, as I have nothing invested in either this site or in Amazon. It was just another p.o.v.

1. Sorry, did I pressure you when I responded to your previous post?

2. I don't see it as supportive, I see it as administrative. And it's not clear to me that it's always a choice...

What a fuzzy grey area you walk as administrator of this site. I do not envy you in the least. This is what I constitute as pressure:
"I'd just like to plug the new double double quote feature. BUT I DON'T MEAN TO BE PUSHY [Alii's emphasis on previous sentence not Dr. Bob's]. Did you deliberately not use it to link to Amazon? If so, I'd be interested in why, over at PBA"
That sentence once might not be pushy but when found many times over on different boards it does tend to appear more than a bit pushy.
The following examples are just what I had the energy to find tonight...there could very well be more....

I see what you mean. But not everybody reads every post. And I'm also trying to find out if people have reasons for not linking to Amazon...

Just a thought,
Yes, Dr Bob is making shameless plugs to raise
money for this site (BTW, the hosting for this site on Verio is several 100 $$ a month).
I do share Alli's conserns about Amazon vs small booksellers. Soon there will be Amazon and 1 or 2 other booksellers in the US. One has to be shameless to raise money, at least Bob is trying
soften the fund drive. "If you are going to buy a book, you could help the site out, too".
This is the end of the thread.
