Appropriate board for conditions/symptomology

Posted by Eddie Sylvano on September 19, 2002, at 9:34:27

First of all, I'm sorry for posting OT stuff on babble. I feel really bad about that. I'm relatively new to this site.
Anyway, I was re-reading the descriptions of the boards, and their intended domains, and was wondering where one would appropriately post questions/discussions relating to specific conditions and symptoms (and not necessarily treatment, which would be medication or therapy related).
I think that a large part of the value that this site holds is in its unique population - their understanding/appreciation of mental health problems and their willingness to discuss them, which can't be easily found elsewhere in most people's social milleu. There's a real catharsis invovled in being able to have that touchstone.

Well, I guess I meant for the post to be more of a general procedural question than a listing of my specific symptoms. For the most part, I'm interested in asking others if they have/had experienced symptoms that I have (such as the one mentioned in my posting http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faith/20020715/msgs/920.html ). A lot of what I feel is hard to describe, and not easily found in a DSM manual. Beyond unremarkable bouts of depression, I just feel "off" in various ways and intensities (maybe schizoid, maybe somewhat autistic? maybe just different?). The therapists I've seen see no problems, which I understand, since I don't really have any classic profile, and I'm relatively functional and intelligent. The only real problem these qualities cause is a pervasive inability to relate to others, and occasional inability to perform complex tasks, due to a sort of "overloaded/spaced out" feeling.
I'm mainly trying to gague the incidence of these qualities in a population I feel comfortable relating to, and possibly recieve advice or insight.
Essentially, I'm asking if this is an acceptable use of resources, and if so, what board would be most appropriate.
Thanks.

I think that would be fine at just plain PB, although I guess to be picky since it's not about medication it would maybe be most appropriate at PSB... Thanks for checking. Best wishes,

Bob
