Erm..........hi ,
I keep getting lost in strange places..
The list of boards below -because they are of same colour and contain many a word of 'psycho' maybe a different color or listed differently could be less confusing?
Maybe it's just me and the rest of the world has no problem with it.
What do you think?

I find links to the different boards confusing too

I've been having the same problem. Would it be possible to have the choices appear in the same relative position on each board? The link for the board you are currently on could refresh the screen for that board(which I haven't figured out how to do).

Another idea is to have separate blocks for links to the boards, the options (such as Start new thread) and the non-board links (like Tips, Open, Research).

Finally, I think it would also help if the names weren't split over more than one line.

Dr. Bob: I support JaneD's suggestions

Dr. Bob--

I hope you'll decide to implement Jane's excellent ideas, to wit:

--separate the boards from the non-board links (*very* helpful, IMHO)

--keep the link positions static; just highlight the current page name in a different, brighter color (one not used elsewhere, like bright red or neon green) It's easy, at least for me, to forget which board I'm on, now that there are so many.

--keep link names intact (easy to do if positions are static!)

--ditch the directional arrows (No one cares what order the board and non-board links are in, so long as the categories are separate and the positions don't change. I'd be willing to bet that the arrows are *never* clicked on.)

Btw, I really like your practice of trying out new boards and letting the amount of "traffic" determine their fate. As strongly as I supported an Old Timers board, I'd have no quarrel with a decision to d/c it if posting isn't sustained.

Thanks much for the 2 newest boards (Tx and Faith). I read and have/will post on both (each?).---medlib

You can't get this kind of honest input from paid market research!

I really think the ideas raised by CtrlAlt, Jane and medlib would enhance the site in positive ways.

I fourth the motions.

I didn't even know what those arrows were for! And it bugs me that the order of the links changes with each page. And, and, and....

Yeah, what Medlib said.

Go*, am I glad those suggestions were brought up. I'm constantly getting lost since I've returned here after being away for some time now. I do use the carats or arrows or whatever you call them but I reallly have no idea where I will wind up nevermind where I've been. As soon as something sounds familiar it dawns on me that I've been there, read that, finished thinking or writing about that. Maybe that section that is a light blue could change and match the letterhead(name of board, I mean). That way I could memorize which colors I've been too.

By the way, I think the ppbabble is a wonderful addition. My guess is that "faith" will give me something to be distracted by. The hole I am in now with medication not working needs as many other things to think about than feeling that old depression taking over my life.

I am still overwelmed by the number of posters since the early days.

Great suggestions, thanks! Better now?

I'm already trying to keep that from happening. What names are being split where?

Book Club still split on two lines.

Dr. Bob--

Wow! Your economical (and speedy!) navigational changes make a huge difference. Thanks much! Bolding the current page name is simple, but clear; and, now that they're on a line by themselves, the directional arrows are useful AND separate the link categories. Impressive!

In answer to your Q above, I've compiled a complete list of still extant name splits.
--PB Tips is split on every board
--PB Book Club is split on PBBC and PBFaith
--PB Open is split and links are OODate on PB Stats and PB Research

I think Fi's ideas about intro formatting would be helpful, too. And setting off board descriptions with bullets (or dashes, if you don't want to mess with a gif) would allow the lines to be single-spaced. Although everything in the intro is important, visually, it looks a little like one of my run-on posts--daunting, and likely to evoke the thought, "Is all this really necessary?"

One last item: Scott (SLS) has completed his comprehensive table on psych meds. If he's amenable, a link to it from the PBMeds intro would be a *very* helpful addition--especially since there are now so many psych meds and so *many* newcomers.

Thanks for listening, Dr. Bob---medlib

The board names split differently depending on how wide your window is. It probably doesn't matter anymore if the names stay in the same position. We'll all learn what is where on our screens.

Hmm. None of them ever split for me. Are you all using IE? Could one of you who knows HTML look into this for me?

Those out of date links, well, thanks for reminding me , but they're not high priorities. :-)

> I think Fi's ideas about intro formatting would be helpful, too.

Sorry, her ideas where?

> And setting off board descriptions with bullets (or dashes, if you don't want to mess with a gif) would allow the lines to be single-spaced.

The text descriptions in the introduction at the top of the main page isn't single-spaced already? It is for me...

It is, isn't it?

I'm sort of afraid of setting a precedent there. How about a link from one of the Tips folders?
