Dr. Bob, I have no idea what "super re-load" means - that's the first issue - what is this and how does one do it? All I know how to do is (regular) reload and I cannot find or get linked to the FAQ which supposedly tells how to super re-load. Because ...
Again, when I clicked on the link you provided :
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#reloadI got to the top of the FAQ page again! So, I scrolled down through the questions and none of them even have the word "reload" in them.
How am I supposed to know which FAQ will help me to super re-load if this phrase is not even included in the FAQ?
So, my second point/question is: the links you provide to FAQ's do NOT seem to correspond in wording to the actual FAQ's. (For example, the link above where it says #reload - well, I cannot find an actual FAQ that says it's about how to reload) ??????
Why don't your links to FAQ's and the actual FAQ's match up in wording?
Here's another example:
this link:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#cookiesit has the word "cookies" in it, yet there is no actual FAQ with the word cookies in it.
Please explain/help! Thanks.

In reply to Dr. Bob: HELP! What's Super Re-Load (more)...?, posted by Janelle on April 24, 2002, at 2:30:55
Hi Janelle...does this help?.... (from google)
I'm no techno head..so asking me is useless : )Broken Link Icons/Using Netscape's Super Re-Load Function:
We've all learned that surfing the World Wide Web often translates to getting mired down in the muck called the "World Wide Wait." Often, when you see a broken link icon, it indicates that a link is missing, and the web site administrator should see that it gets fixed. However...
It is also very commonly indicative of the user's impatience. If you haven't waited for ALL of the graphics and information to load before clicking on a link, you will definitely see these icons. Let's assume that you're a more patient breed of surfer, and you've actually waited for all contents of the page to load, and you're still seeing these icons. It is also common to see these broken link icons when web traffic is high at a web site, and doesn't necessarily mean that a link is missing. If you come across one of these icons, the web administrator (webmaster or "webteam," in this case) is eager to know about it and willing to fix the problem. Before you rush to conclusions, however, you can see if it's really a broken link by trying a couple of simple things. First, click on the broken link icon. Sometimes, this will cause the page to redraw, and you'll find that the image will be there afterward. If this doesn't do the trick, use your browser's "Reload" function. Since a re-load CAN access cached information, it is even better (if you're using Netscape) to use the "Super Reload" function. You can do this by holding down the option key while you select "Reload" from the file menu. Reloading the page will insure that you're loading a fresh page, not an older, cached copy that could contain outdated links.
Click here to return to the top of this document.Error Messages:
Sometimes, when you're browsing a web site, you may click on a link only to find troublesome messages such as "No such file," "File not found," "Server may not be accepting connections at this time," "No DNS entry," etc. etc. etc. These messages may be a lie! Do not trust them on the first round. If you come across one of these, try a reload (maybe even a couple reloads) to determine if there really is no such file. As for the "Server not accepting connections at this time..." message, the server may have been maxed out traffic-wise the second you tried to load the page, or may be in the middle of a reboot, in which case, a couple more tries on your part could prove successful in loading the page. There's just something about how busy the Internet is that can cause bogus error messages on the user side--use the old adage, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!"

That was so sweet and kind of you to post that information - it sounds like "super re-load" is something that might only be available on Netscape?
I think I still need Dr. Bob to explain it and also about his wording of FAQ's, etc.
Thanks again, so much, for taking the time to give me that info. It's good stuff to be aware of. :-)

Janelle, honey, does it help you orient yourself by asking lots of questions? They are great, you're great, but you also want to be aware of making demands that might seem too insistent. Remember my fate! One teeny PBC, and it's curtains, kid.

Hi Jannelle,
When I clicked on the link in your post:
> http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#reloadMy computer goes to the top of the FAQ page, stops and thinks for a moment (or at least that's what I assume it's doing), and then goes to the FAQ section entitled:
Why doesn't my message show up?
In this section the topic of "reload" is discussed briefly. Go try it, but let your computer stop and think when it gets to the top of the FAQ page. Don't scroll, wait.

it worked! it worked! YAYAY! This has been upsetting me for daaaaaaays ... I sat patiently at the top of the FAQ list watched the little MS icon in the browswer continue to spin and Eureka - I landed right in the middle of the area that addressed the question I had. I don't know HOW to say thank you enough. :-)

I'm pretty familiar with most of the acronyms around here, but what is a "PBC"?
I want to know so I don't do one and get zapped.
