As I understand it, discussion of *any* psychoactive drug is permitted here provided means of procurement are not mentioned and the drug is not 'pushed'. I think this is a desirable situation.

Perhaps one of the biggest single causes of drug-related injury & death is the Govt's (both US & UK, which is actually in the process of decriminalising cannabis, thus in effect decriminalising a whole generation! Bravo.) misguided & deeply flawed 'war' against drugs, which actively suppresses & with-holds vital information regarding safe use of drugs. Head-in-sand politics. Let's face it, you're never going to stop drug use ('abuse'). It's here to stay. The war has been lost. The best we can hope for is safe, responsible usage, which blossoms from enlightened education.

I wonder how many use drugs because of the illicit glamour? (NB: I'm certainly not advocating wholesale *legalisation* of 'recreational' drugs)

How many people in the late 80s/early 90s overheated & died because they weren't aware of the risk of dehydration whilst on Ecstasy?(I speak as someone who has seen more than one friend collapse & nearly die for precisely this reason).

I am personally pleased that the original poster is now well-aquainted with the potential benefits and pitfals of GHB use. He is now in a position to make an informed decision (as am I for that matter. Thanks JGalt!). It's not my business whether the Govt of his country approves or not & I certainly can't stop the guy from trying GHB.

I thought the responder's posts were well-balanced & informative. Maybe the stated facts will stop someone going out this w/end and mixing, maybe fatally, GHB w/ alcohol...

One for the anti-censorship lobby :-)

Respectfully,
J.

Hmmm, seems I was in error. I could not find the policy last night, and clearly misstated it. Clearly no one is talking about how to get GHB.
So as long as one stays with in the rules.....

Hi Wendy.

>Why don't you discuss on the drugs (PB) board?

Because this is (was) more about board policy relating to discussion of drugs, than drugs themselves.

Anything relating to board policy (which I obviously approve of, provided I've interpreted it correctly) will just get re-directed back here by Dr. B.

I'm not sure politics (which my post kinda touched upon; I can never resist an anti-govt. dig :-) ) are welcome on PB anyway...

More to the point, where's James???

Rgds,
J.

Jah - I believe that he's at home or work, depending on the day and time. Not to worry. - Cam

Jah,

I accidentally came upon the GHB discussion tonight, now I understand. ... perhaps if James had given it a reference? It seemed to come out of the blue...

Yes, he's pretty vigilant. Sorry to have jumped the gun.

Yeah, I think the lines get pretty blurred, fairly easily. And Sar, I'm all for free speech, too! I don't agree at all with the new(er) PB policy about discussing how to obtain meds without a prescription, or which are illegal, or... I'm not re-stating the policy very well at all.

Yes, besides this one, he still hadn't responded to the cyanide thread by late Monday evening. Wonder what's up with that?

Thanks, miss discussing mary-jane with you...

Hi Wendy.

Nothing to be sorry about. Knowing you're more of a Social-Babbler I twigged you hadn't seen the original thread. Besides it wasn't a discussion as such. I thought James had jumped the gun in yet again trying to dictate board policy. It's just fine as it is & needs no further sanitising (I think we agree).

I just thought I'd add my thoughts, in as thoughtful (considering it was 4am) & civil a manner as possible. I know I've been intemperate in the past but it's something I'm really working on. Though I cringe to say it-you know how much I hate psychotherapeutic psychobabble-in this regard Babble has been 'a positive learning experience' (urgh!) for me.

Me & Mary are getting closely aquainted right now %-) (it's 6:45 in the morn.). She's my Salvation.

See: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20011104/msgs/84006.html !

If you see her say hi from me.

Best,
