At the risk of......

Posted by kiddo on August 22, 2001, at 18:59:01

...being exiled, I'd like to post a comment/question.

There were no problems during the time Dr Bob took his break, but now that he's back, it's like everyone has started up again.

My questionn is: Do you think this may have to do with needing the guidance/discipline of Dr. Bob?

I'll go hide under a rock now,

Are you suggesting that I take another break? :-)

The recent disagreements here have been much more civil, IMO, than what was going on before my vacation...

Lets do a scientific study. Dr Bob leaves for two weeks, repeating this cycle for ten years, then returns and each time he posts the exact same message, but different people (of course) will be posting on average only one message and those of us who stick around will get to watch and dr. bob will discover another interesting set of cyberbased numbers that may or may not mean anything. Then after a period of time not exceeding ten years with a (n+-) of 1,999,999,999,999+- posts, he will write a paper on the significance of licenced doctors being on the net and the effect (or is it affect) of a degreed professional starting something electronic where random confused people repeatedly ask the same question over and over in different ways that ends up on tv screens in living rooms and offices all over the world.

And has been of a big help to one little mouse.

Yours Sincerely,
In this odd place called
Cyber Space

Susan C.

Could it be like my nieces who, when they think no one is there to observe, get along great, but as soon as they realize an adult is around, the bickering is let out full force?

Never been to any group therapy, but if we could make a comparison between the discussions here with the type of thing that goes on in groups, then I'm not surprised. The "authority figure" is back.

But DrB is right, the level of outright animosity and baiting and name-calling is kidstuff compared to a couple of weeks ago before the vacation...

Susan, were you a statistician in another life, your riff on statistics/scientific writing and method was great, had me rolling on the (dust-bunnied) floors...

Best,
Wendy
