Ecstasy Rising

This great documentary was aired on ABC in 2004. For the previous 20 years, there had been a tsunami of misinformation about MDMA from the U.S. government, national and local law enforcement, and the media. This documentary helped to turn the tide against that tsunami of lies and distortions.

<Thumbs-up>

There is no way I would be exposed to such good information were you not to stop by every now and then. Thanks again. Lots to learn.

Hi Hugh.

As I watched the video, I found my head shaking, "NO" with a smirk on my face for the entire time the propagandists said things that I knew to be both untrue and antithetical to common sense. The disinformation presented was blatant and unapologetic. I was truly disgusted.

Hi Scott,

I felt the same way while watching it. I was reminded of the Upton Sinclair quote: "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it."

How many years will the DEA/FDA drag their feet in approving this?

MAPS applied for FDA approval of MDMA in December.

MDMA should receive FDA approval in August.

It's been a maddeningly slow process. MAPS was founded in 1986 by Rick Doblin, and received approval for its first MDMA clinical trial in humans in 1992.

It took the DEA hardly any time at all to classify MDMA a Schedule I drug. The DEA's own administrative law judge concluded that MDMA should be a Schedule III drug, but the DEA overruled his decision and instead made MDMA a Schedule I drug -- the same as heroin.

Rick Doblin said that a change of staff at the FDA has helped in moving along the MDMA clinical trials and approval process.
