I'm glad to know that there are so many clinical studies of psychedelics that use microdoses, as well as therapeutic and heroic doses, in end-of-life care. Aldous Huxley, whose 1953 masterpiece The Doors of Perception helped to introduce the Western world to psychedelics, had his wife inject him with LSD when he was on his deathbed. (Huxley died the same day as John Kennedy.)

It now turns out that that idea has been around for over 2,000 years.

Hi, Hugh.

Thanks for the citations.

I have decided that if I relapse, I will keep my medication in place and do microdosing of psilocybin. It would be my hope that a brief increase in neuroplasticity might allow for the brain to break through a wall and facilitate the recapturing of the antidepressant effect. However, I don't know if psilocybin and Nardil (phenelzine) are safe to take together.

"A dose of 0.215mg Kg (about 15mg for a 70kg person) had a rapid onset AD effect that persisted for at least 14 day"

https://bipolarnews.org/?p=5133

How does the dosage used here compare to microdosing?

One other question. Does mivrodosing exert any psychedelic experiences?

CNN aired a show last night on psilocybin and its success in treating depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Unfortunately, the show was far from being a source of the results of recent scientific investigations.

Instead, the show focused on the trip rather than its results. The participants were interviewed before the treatments began. Not a single one demonstrated anything near the magnitude of depression that people on Psycho-Babbble describe. Some of the attendees were more interested in expanding their minds in order to fill in feelings of emptiness. Many hoped for a spiritual awakening and to discover new truths. Not one person complained of having TRD for which no drug treatment has helped. Not a single person was diagnosed as having a mental illness. I would not want to trip while a stranger "guides" me through the experience and has access to my mind and deciding on what direction to lead it. I'm really not educated enough to know how if this is actually possible.

The problem with the way CNN portrayed psilocybin was that it was more of a trendy fad which did not focus on how it helps with depression, anxiety, or PTSD. The show gave me the impression that psilocybin was actually being used more recreationally for mind expansion than treating mental illnesses. clinically. I think CNN did a disservice to the movement to make psychedielics an accepted medical treatment. it was it had value as a met not really a clinical setting with an accepted medical protocol Psilocybin It seemed more was more recreational than a clinical tool to be used according

Jamaica is hoping that psilocybin retreats will be a lucrative industry there. It's legal.

Hi Scott,

Fifteen milligrams of psilocybin is an in-between dose. It's stronger than a microdose, weaker than a therapeutic dose, and a good deal weaker than a heroic dose. You can scroll down to the Shrooms Dosage Chart:

I listened to the podcast of the CNN program on the magic mushrooms retreat in Jamaica. You're right. None of the people interviewed in this report appear to be suffering from TRD. The one whose story interested me the most was Jason, the successful attorney who wanted to quit drinking. It sounds like he was transformed by his experience in Jamaica, and hadn't had a drink, or had a desire to drink, in the two months since his treatment.
