I've had it done by an MD who's a chronic pain specialist. Instead of using lidocaine, he uses a 5% dextrose solution. And instead of calling it SGB, he prefers calling it cervical plexus hydrodissection. It makes me feel VERY relaxed.

How long-lasting were the effects?

I think I could benefit...as PTSD is now a part of my Dx.(officially) I am scared by almost *everything*...the hyperadrenaline is horrific! I'd like to be a guinea pig.
How did it work out, Hugh?

I feel strongly affected by a treatment for about two weeks. I feel its benefits more subtly after that. During those first two weeks, I feel a lot more relaxed. And my voice sounds more relaxed, more resonant. When I go out for a walk, more people smile at me, say hi to me. I'm more likely to strike up conversations with strangers. After the first two weeks, I continue to feel better than I normally do, but the feeling of relaxation is not as pronounced.
The doctor I'm getting them from is going to conduct a clinical trial for first responders with PTSD. He's going to try to determine how many treatments it takes to bring about long-lasting benefits, and will be doing follow-up evaluations of these test subjects for several years.
I had my first treatment in September and another one last month. I'll be getting another one in June. It would probably be better to get them more frequently, but I have to travel quite a distance for them.
I'm going to try the Safe and Sound Protocol next week. I only have to travel a few miles for this one. It's supposed to help depression, anxiety, PTSD. It's a five-day program, one hour per day. I posted about it here:

That's awesome Hugh....you always find these ray's of hope! I need to be a bit more disciplined in my treatments. I mean, I have been offered some Zoom delivered therapy, but I don't follow through. Can I ask which country you are in? I want to ask my doc about SGB injections. What's a good online source, that's free, for cutting-edge psychiatry? I'd also like to try the magnetic therapy.
Thanks,
Jay

Hi Jay,
I'm in the US. Is it TMS that you want to try? And are you asking what websites have news about cutting-edge psychiatric treatments?
medicalxpress.com
sciencedaily.com
statnews.com
nytimes.com
